I think that puts you in the majority. However, the minority is very vocal. I suppose they feel restoring/recycling worn items is a crime against history, but since the collector demand for worn items is so low if people weren't buying them to restore them, they would end up in the trash. So I ask, which is a bigger crime againt history, restoration or the landfill?

The 59 SS will make you a believer or a bleeder. Sliced a nice filet on the top of my head ( haste) , but it laid back down and is not noticeable. Wonder if that is why the original owner I'm presuming turfed it into the back 40 at the camp where it was found .
That being said the rest of the shave was fantastic and the baby will never outrun this thoroughbred. I remember stating I wasn't a fan of the GSBs but my opinion has changed . Chalk that one up to experience and technique.
Lastly the red isnt holding up but that will change as I will opt for a different product and obtain much better results or just leave it until it wears off. Doesnt affect the shave anyway. I'd rate this one a 9 out of 10.

Good points . I enjoy my worn razors as much as my pristine razors . Its all about the shave and not the look or value to me . You cant put a price on a great shave .

    Really? Lol.

It isn't just semantics either. Refurbing is quite expensive and from what i have read, can really cloud up the detail of these razors (esp. knurling etc) . It can also change the razors shaving characteristics. So if you are not replating for sentimental reasons, why bother? Just spend your money on a modern razor which could outlast not just you and your generatons, but the species in general.

As i get older, i prefer preservation over restoration but that's just me!

i haven't restored any of my gillettes ,just a clean and a polish..i have heard replating can drop the value for some..but i bought mine to shave with and not stare at..:)
