They can be nasty lil critters. They can also learn not to be. I've been bitten by a nasty dog, but not my ferret.

Yeah... never been a fan of it.
A friend of mine kept ferrets.
I never really trusted them... they were bitey, liked to steal things, and insisted upon pooping behind one of the chairs in his living room when they were allowed to roam.

Haint swipes things, is very good about his litterbox training, and has never bitten anyone (yet) He gets along well with my 20# Norweigen Forest cat.

Not a ferret fan either...pretty much for the same reasons A_M listed... :D

It's bad enough talking to your self, and quoting yourself....but posting to yourself, too?

It's possible that Frank's ferrets could just sense that I was uneasy with them.
The combination of the smell and not really knowing how to hold them (of course.. there aren't many wrong ways to hold ferrets... they're like Gumby)
    made our initial encounters difficult.
I'm sure there are those who are better trained and more even tempered, my experiences have just led me to feel that they aren't for me.

Haint gets a bath each week and a daily spritz of ferret cologne. Not all ferrets are good about the litterbox. I am fortunate that Haint is above the norm on that point. He's been an entertaining creature. Around here, any animal that doesn't bite, kick, or stomp on the vet after getting a vaccination is considered "well behaved" :happy102

I wanted a ferret for a long time, then the urge passed. I think I may have just liked them from Beastmaster :D

my daughter mentioned a coupla days ago maybe wanting a ferret...my initial response was two-fold:

    1) yay! I get to have a ferret! I get to have a ferret!

    2) then again, I've read they canbe a handful to take care of, and stink

    my response to little_lady_me:

    "we'll see"

Do some internet searches on ferret behavior and training. I don't know how old the Little Lady of the house is, but ferrets and small children I'd never recommend. Teenagers love the lil stinkers!
