And my final Stirling shave for Stirling September! I use this awesome Dovo that I tried taking to my stones.
Thank you very much my friend! Yes, this is Stirling's only fougere as far as know. Here is the scent descriptipn from Stirling's website. Very accurate lol: Our first original scent in quite some time, Varen was a project 2 years in the making. It was originally made for a Dutch wetshaving forum, so we gave it the name Varen, the Dutch word for "fern". This natural fougere is a powerful blend of oakmoss, lavender, coumarin, vetiver, sage, cedar, lichen, and geranium.
Not sure how many of you here are on Instagram, but Rod made a post today about the upcoming release of new brushes and, of the Creed Santal Dub, Intrepid Man!!!
Stirling Single Edge September Stirling Blood on Steel SS Stirling Tuxedo Synthetic Focus Dynamic R48 1 /2 DE Pivoting Single Edge Razor Feather on 1 Stirling Blood on Steel (Tsuka) AS To finish up the month my favorites came out. This is "the Wedding package" Blood on Steel is at the top of the Max Headroom List of Most Glorious Stanks. The tuxedo is my most used brush. Works great. I thought I saw that Rod was introducing one of the longer handles with this knot. Yup, I'm in. While the Blue Ming was hanging around, I sent him packing today cause I was in a hurry. The truth is... soaps do not have to be bloomed. Anybody who says they do..... is as ridiculous as someone who says it is wrong. I just happen to enjoy doing as I please. Great lather, just over to the sloshy side, the way I like. Went with the Focus Dynamic R48 1/2 DE Single Edge Razor cause I was in a hurry. This tool is highly maligned because it is a technical mechanical razor that forces you to abandon traditional shaving techniques and rely on design. Easy to use, just different. Only razor I have that I always 'chase the baby' and never regret it. Finished close and irritation free. Hit the mug with that wonderful aftershave and out the door. Shave on, shave free.
Here’s a question for the Group: What’s the heavy background scent in Ramblin Man? I’m working my way through my sample, and the scent is a rare no-go for me. I’m wanting to try Sandalwood and/or Vanilla Sandalwood on my next order, but I’m wondering if that’s actually the scent I don’t like. Or maybe I would like it by itself, but not when fighting fruity top notes?
Opon Comb OCtober I have exactly one open comb razor. It ain't much, but it is mine and it shaves well. I think it is a New SC. Usually I would use this with a one and done blade. I have never used a Feather in this piece, can't figure why. Even though I've seen folks around that consider Feathers one and done (ahem @Terry) I hang with this till this blade gives up the ghost. In honor of Hi being on first, the Jayaruh 367 came out. Hmm, wonder if Hu got his base hit on the stubby end of my brush? The Blue Ming came around a little miffed cause I said soap blooming is not a necessity. After listening to him whine on, I had to explain that in this world there are folks just not secure enough to put water on their soap. So we went happily on. Everybody has heard me rant about Stirling Blood on Steel. Yup, still the best. The old Gillette is a tad more to my liking with a Feather. Left me a little scritchy where I went sideways on my neck, no lasting negative though. Wish I could make that sideways move open edge. Great 3 passers, with, across, against. Seen some real fine open comb shavers. I almost feel depressed showing mine. Have a great one. Shave free.
Ramblin Man didn't do it for me. I think it was a dupe of Creed Himalaya. You can Google up Basenotes for the profile. It has about 8 things going. I thought I would like it based on their profile. Glad I didn't pony up for the real McCoy
I think @Linuxguile PIFed me the Ramblin Man, then you sent the Baker Street and BoS. I'll keep working on those 3 to see if they're worth a purchase. I've already declared Sandpiper to be a re-purchase.
