Thank you, Perry! To me the soap is a bit more powedery than the AS. The AS definitely has a pipe smoke vibe to it. It is one of my favorite tobacco scents. I only wish I had tried it earlier.

My MWF experience may not be the norm, I understand. I do try to report/compare things 'in my world' of wet shaving...which obviously is tainted with with my city water 'concoction', lathering hydration/building technique, my face/skin/oils compilation, etc. MWF is one of the first acquisitions for me after Proraso SC and ToBS SC. First puck/hard soap to regularly use. MWF will be a regular purchase as it runs out. It was great on the 3rd pass when combined with the PAA Cube 2.0.

One thing I forgot to put in my report....the MWF consistency and painted on lather feel/look, felt extremely similar to when I use PAA, Proraso Single Line, Wholly Kaw, Castle Forbes, ToBS, Truefitt & Hill, SV, and a couple others. Very nice, thick, no lather degradation during the shave, had a yogurty consistency & appearance. That's why I was a little surprised at the after blade swipe face feel of being a little 'clean' for my skin, but wanted to report what happened. Definitely a little bit of YMMV for me with MWF today.

If Nelson @NTR hasn't yet, here is a LINK. I just recently cleaned up my Signature and removed that "Ride the Cap" line. The thread is now Stickied for top of the forum easy finding.
I would be pleased to hear what anyone has to say about the PAA Cube.

Not a fan of PS oils, but PSS does give me added slickness. I've enjoyed Proraso Green preshave soap, and have used Col Conk glycerin soap as a preshave. Working on a trade for some Proraso Red sandalwood, too.

Certainly, all soaps and creams are subject to YMMV opinions. I will acknowledge that The Fat isn't for everyone. I think some folks can't get over the initial look of the lather, which to me seems a little airy and doesn't have the sheen that Stirling can achieve, as one example. But with good lathering techniques and small additions of water, you can get nice sheen and slickness. It perhaps takes a little more work than some other soaps.

well gents i know this is a loaded question, but.when i used the vintage wilkinson blade this morning ,it was superb..no blade feel and no whiskers left..oil on glass smooth..to borrow a term..i also know that one has to try different blades and i have a few brands/types..has anyone found a blade that compares to these vintage ones be it wilkinson or gillette spoilers?..would love to know..

The few reviews I've seen of The Cube 2.0 have been positive. I've resisted putting it in my cart because I have an unopened Cube 1.0 waiting its turn when my Stirling Preshave finally gets used up.

I am thinking of trying The Cube when my Stirling preshave bar runs out as well. The Stirling bar lasts forever. I don't have anything from PAA yet.

Work wise...about the same for me building a lather with MWF. MWF stays in my den for all use, DE/SE/open blades. Only soaps I've kicked to the curb so far is Arko and Derby (and a couple of others but for scent reasons). Arko and Derby just seem to make any straight razor I use skip/stutter too much during a swipe on the first pass, calm down only slightly for the 2nd/3rd. I've never had that problem with DE/SE setups or the soaps I've mentioned. Skipping/stuttering open edge blades give me the heebie jeebies. One big oops happened 2-3 months ago with a stuttering swipe that landed and dug in on my neck (near the jugular of all places). Lucky wifey wasn't around the moment it happened.....the comments when she noticed though, :angry019: (gotta keep Momma happy)!

Haha, amen! I've used Arko in the past and have tossed it each time. Just not great soap in my opinion. So much more in my den that's better.

I would say that most of my tobacco scents have been of the floral type, not the cured pipe type, so maybe the comparison is not 100% fair. I prefer this to Alt-Innsbruck and Stirling Gentleman. I would also add WK Jamestown Gentleman to that list. PAA Al fin also has a pipe tobacco smell to me, and this is close, but I still prefer the Cavendish. PAA Harvest Moon has some tobacco, and I may rate this one above Cavendish. It isn't strictly a tobacco scent, but I get a fair amount of tobacco from it. And while I definitely enjoy Tabac, Cavendish is much more preferred.

I enjoy all of these scents, so I don't find any of them bad, but Cavendish is right at the top.
