What is your definition of a cake soap versus a soap puck? The Fat definitely comes as a round, hard disc of soap. I would call that a puck.

Is that Fall foliage I’m seeing? It’s Fall somewhere? Really? Could someone please flip that switch here for the South? I think we’ve been duped again...

I think someone asked me this before. I would define a cake soap is the kind of soap that you can pick up and use inside a mug or jar. Puck soap is something like Stoylin's 5.8 oz offering, that is, with a lid.

I just defined both in perhaps another thread.

Cake: a "Tall" piece of soap-well-rounded to give the appearance of a cake, such as Williams, Burma Shave
Puck:-Smaller in appearance than a cake, but wider, such as Stoylin, Central Texas Soaps, Chiseled Face

To me a cake and a puck of soap are the same thing, a soap that doesn't come with a container. A soap that comes in a container is either a tub, tin, bowl, mug, or crock; depending on the type of container.

He has certainly never given me any problems since coming home from the beauty shop. I think he likes being the shiniest toy in the room.

I'm considering moving the BBQ from the rather upscale confines of St. Charles down to Ms. Piggie's in Overland. Definitely a downgrade in atmosphere but OMG the smells in that place. Had a delivery from there again today. Seriously, we could all wear any AS we wanted and I think the smoke and bbq smells would just overwhelm them.

In comparing the FAT to Stirling Sheep I definitely see a difference in perceived thickness and yes, real thickness. Stirling with its mutton tallow (and even its beef tallow soaps) just blows up and you lather with yogurt or pudding type lathers. MWF is definitely not as rich as that BUT the slickness is definitely there. I have tried to find out if they use mutton tallow or just add lanolin but nobody from MWF has ever answered my emails asking about that. Guess I'm asking something proprietary that is locked away with the formula of Coca-Cola and the KFC spices.

Mixing 50/50 Tabac/MWF into a frankensoap I refer to as "FatBac" does create a very nice scent. It also produces an incredibly slick and protective lather. I still have a bit of it left from the last time I ran a puck of each down and mixed the ends. I've thought of buying a full puck of each and just making a huge batch of it. Having said all of that, I think using the Tabac AS on top of a FAT shave is a great combination.

One man's puck is another man's cake. MWF is sold in its glass bowl, in wooden bowels sometimes and as a refill. The refill is a round "puck" that you can throw through plate glass and never dent it.

Ahhh, the memories. I had quite a few '55 SS. Red-Tip (2), President, Diplomat; '56 Super-Speed. All buh-bye. Great shavers, all. Settled on my 1947 SS (third :scared003:) as my remaining SS. The '56 Flair Tip was an extraordinary shaver and they can be had for not much moola.
