    Great shave Mark!

In Canada ....if it resembles a puck..its a puck

If it looks like a puck....then I'd also call it a puck.

    Very nice Evan!

    OCtober with the FAT

    October 2

Razor - Matthew the Haunted Gillette New SC Deluxe
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

It's Wednesday! So it's FAT time. Ok, weighed the puck in the bowl, lid off when I got it out earlier today. Total weight = 290 grams. I then filled the bowl with water to allow it to hydrate the puck. Notice I'm not blooming. I always hydrate a puck if it's been sitting awhile. Wet soap and dryer brush makes for a super easy and luxurious MWF lather. I weighed the bowl with the water in it. 356 grams. So......66 grams of water on a 4 hour soak. Poured the water off when I was ready and the puck was at 303 grams. Basic math. 290 dry soap, 303 wet soap means it absorbed 13 grams of water and looks in perfect condition.

Still using Matthew and Sharp Star, and I chose the JR46 to make the lather. This brush has a Maggard's synthetic knot in it. In addition to tracking the soap used on each MWF shave, I'm going to document which brush/knot to see differences in performance there. Got the usual FAT lather super easy. Very nice and cushy. Not quite Stirling thickness but close and the slickness is off the charts. Did two passes and touch ups to finish up with a perfect shave and the alum was silent. Ok, back to the scale. Final weight = 300 grams. Soap used = 3 grams.

Let's put that in an easy to follow form.

    Dry soap - 290 g
    Hydrated soap - 303 g
    Remaining - 300 g

    Total used w/ JR46 - 3 grams.

Very fine shave and very fun to do with all of this gear. Nice to know the total soap out of the puck too. For reference, I won't soak the puck again for the month. I just do that to "start it up" and after that the water from the brush usually keeps it well hydrated even skipping every other day. Will be very interesting!

Hope you all had a great Wednesday and here's to an even better Thursday!

It is reports like this that make TSD what it is. Nice Job. I love that you have kept the human connection with the razor. Adds a little something to the shave don't you think?
