    NCoxSTL AAACK!

I do love knowing something of the history of a fine vintage piece like this one. I still have the blade that was in it when it arrived. I just felt it would be best to keep the blade with the razor after they had come 60 years through history together. My 1918 which will make an appearance this month is part of a khaki kit that was issued in WWI. I would love to know more about its history but probably never will. I still consider the fact it may have been in Europe at one point with a scared young soldier wondering if he would get to go home with it.

Can't wait to see the 1918!

I am feeling the same about my 1930's 7 o'clock. I wondered if it was a serviceman's razor during WWII who never came home.
You don't get this connection with today's plastic disposable crap tbh.

    Whipping up a Storm!
    Razor: 7 o'clock FBOC
    Blade: Vintage 7 o'clock (#3)
    Brush: Star Boar
    Soap Kent (MWF)

Storm signals are up over the BlueShaver's abode. Bit of heavy weather brewing here! Mr Lorenzo is coming to pay a visit!
Day 3 on the 7 o'clock blade. I stropped it on my palm again, but this time i used a little bit of oil to clean the blade. ( i have no idea why tbh).
Also, i decided to go with a bowl lather. This isn't something i do normally as i very rarely, if ever have trouble with getting my lather up (I have quite the opposite problem tbh :ashamed001: ) But, i thought given the reports back from the front this week regarding MWF, i would row in with the soap worriers and give it a try. Loads of lather and water, lots of water, in fact i had to stop adding water as the 'fat just kept on drinking!
Switched to my largest brush today, the Turkish boar which has a good handle length for getting into the bowl. Not the best made brush tbh, but it does everything right and is well broken in at this stage.
3 passes and done. A good shave. Not my closest, but comfortable and usable. Quite acceptable.
Regarding the vintage blade, it was utterly usable for this 3rd shave but it is not as sharp as it was. Strangely enough, i feel that these blades wear a little different than the latest coated/SS blades. It isn't so much that they lose sharpness like a modern blade does, but that they just slowly "wear out". I get the feeling i could continue stropping and using the blade for quite some time and not really notice much in the way of difference tbh. However, i think this is 3 and out and i will be changing it on the next shave. It has been fun using it and a vintage blade is certainly not something i would avoid using!
My thoughts on the razor as this is my last shave with it on this blade? It is very much like my thin handled flat bottomed tech but with an open comb. The shave is mild and the blade sits back from the edge. The blade is very well held giving little chatter and it sings that unmistakable English sound. Head heavy, it wants to do the work, not you and the handle is crafted for a delicate and precise touch. The only down side is perhaps the plating on the handle is a little thin. A typical issue for these razors i believe. The green Bakelite case is a nice touch as well.
    What razor for tomorrow? hmm.....

Cool report, Neil! I'm curious to see what the soap weighs before the next shave.

Thank you, Jason! I don't know if anything else can replace it. I might have to buy another bottle, even though it's not that cheap over here.

    OCtober 3rd
    Razor: Cooper Monobilt
    Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (1)
    Brush: 30DC LE V2
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: B&M Lavanille
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: B&M Lavanille

    Good morning!

Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Silent alum.

The Monobilt is always a treat to use. Not at all harsh but plenty of blade feel. Fun little razor.

First use of B&M Lavanille. This is another of his polarizing scents. Fortunately I like it, I like it a lot!

    Have a great day! [IMG]

    Great Thursday morning to all.
Wool Fat n Feathers this morning.
Got out my travle razor I keep in the dopp bag. It's a frankin razor, an aluminum Soluna head and some kind of handle that's hollow the top half fits into. The whole thing fits nicely into its padded metal tin. The thing I like about the Soluna head is if you ride the bar, the blade just picks up off the skin. No chance of paint scraping the skin, that is, if your preasure is light. Paired with a Feather blade, shaving is a joy, even away from home. The Fat didn't let me down, rich, thick, almost immoral lather that makes shaving worth while.
So a 2 bladed 2 pass face, 2 pass head shave that left me clean and smooth.
    20191003_063537.jpg
Gonna try the AS by itself again today, yesterday's test was a washout.
On a roof in the 90 degree heat for hours and hours.
The only successful test on the skin would have been a fire hose spray.
    To all..
    Enjoy
