    OCtober with the FAT

    October 3

Razor - Matthew the Haunted Gillette New SC Deluxe
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Stirling Glastonbury [IMG]
Brush - 30DC Meet UP LE
    Post - Alum

Onward and forward to the third shave for OCtober. Staying with Matthew to give him another day in the spotlight. Sharp Star on board and, as always, three shaves is nothing for this blade. I always toss at 3, but that's just my routine. These blades can easily go double that. It's Thursday, so a Stirling mutton tallow is up. We'll use the Glastonbury along with the Meet up LE brush with the SynBad bulb knot. I did go ahead and weigh the Stirling, even though it's not part of our discussion, but the lidless tub weighed 225 grams. No water added.

I didn't get the brush as wet as I thought so the load was a bit sluggish. However, with some "dip tipping" by the brush during lathering I got it to produce a really quality Stirling lather. Easy to work with and the mutton tallow is fantastic as always. Two passes, some touch up and I'm a very happy camper. Weight after the shave was.....224 grams. Popping to 223 occasionally. So we'll say 1.5 grams is all that I used out of that tub. Seems like not very much, eh? Anyway, there it is for what it's worth.

I'll get some catching up done but it looks like another busy and fantastic day around here. Keep those great shaves coming and get ready for Friday!!

    Greetings once again shave fans.
    Open Comb OCtober

New Col Conk Bay Rum &
The New Col Conk cereal or soup bowl
    Omega 10098 boar
    Gillette New Short Comb
    Tiger face tonic
    Stirling Dirty South Shavers AS.

Having observed the great debate over soap cakes, tubs & pucks. I became a little confusseled on what my new Col Conk material is.

I had decided that this bowl was too small for my normal helpings of soup or cereal, so I decided to use it to put my new soap in. I hope the good Colonel is not upset with me. Also, not being sure if this needs to be called a puck or a cake, I will use the hybrid term "puke".

Well the Blue Ming took off, grumbling about not wanting to be involved with Col Conk's blooming puke.

I normally am not a Bay Rum fan, but liked the Col Conk Lime soo much, figured I'd give it a try. Not too strong and no over-hang, so it was just right for me.

It didn't take long to get the Col Conk Bay Rum puke to 'spume forth'. I figure we were clicking the rails at spume factor 8 with the suds of the Colonels puke.

If I ever have to 'go economy' with shave soaps it will be Col Conk hands down.

Day 2 on the Feather blade in the New SC. Most of my DE shaves were with a mild tool like EJ DE89 or an adjustable dialed down or wide open. This seems like it somewhere in the middle. I like the blade holding setup, no margin for slop or a misload. I also like the small cap, which with the nice amount of blade feel makes staying "on angle" easier than with a 'milder' piece.

The puke of Col Conk's bay rum, the pig hair brush, the aged razor, and Japan's finest blade all came together for a great shaving experience.

I can't remember who here at TSD recommended Lucky Tiger After Shave & Face Tonic to me, but it should be found in every Shave Den.

Just a 'light coat' of the Dirty South Shavers AS was perfect.

Speaking of aftershaves it has come to my attention that folks in these parts have been found making their own aftershaves with the hi potency Everclear. Caution is to be advised.....
....... always consider the ingestability of the sum total of the ingredients so you are always safe drinking your mistakes.

    Tabac Thursday OCtober 3rd SOTN

Well, I've been saving this razor for a couple months (partially out of some apprehension considering it's blade feel and aggression)... but I figured it's Open Comb October... Let's give it a go. It's the PAA Evolution DOC.

Who else has this razor?? Yes it's an aggressive razor and yes there is considerable blade feel, but DAMN is it smooth. My tough beard was almost completely gone in 2 passes (truly unheard of for me). I also brought out JR #28 tonight and the badger fan knot whipped up tabac into a frenzy in no time. I am extremely smooth and smell great for bed. Happy shaves all!

    Josh

Easy way, but I am a spinster: don't feel like hosting strangers in the house...
Its' easier to dump a sleeping pill than someone who might feel like wagging her mouth the day after, during breakfast.

I love women married to very wealthy men: they'll never even dream of leaving him to join me and starve! :D
However... there is no guarantee I would not get a nudge back anyway... :(

Ever considered a women collection: noisier, I agree. But... fun! ;)

    FRIDAY'S SHAVE

    Perfumed by:
    Jean-Claude Ellena
    [IMG]

    Razor - Merkur Futur
    Blade - [IMG] *3rd Shave
    Razor Stand by RV Shaving
Shave Brush by Doug Korn's Workshop
Brush Stand by Desire Metal Works
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Shave Soap - Razorock "Son of Zeus" Vegan Formula
Soap Bowl - Vintage Mikasa Mediterrania Sugar Bowl circa 1970's
    Aftershave - Fine "L'Orange Noir"
Post-Shave Balm - Advanced Clinicals Anti-aging Hyaluronic Acid Cream
Deodorant - My Pit Butter "Orange"
    Fragrance - Terre d’Hermès EDT

***EDIT - The Futur had yet another flawless victory over the stubbles. 1-pass + clean up perfection. The Futur is clearly the most bullet-proof shave I have in the lineup with the Rex Ambassador right there neck and neck with it. The OneBlade is just a smidge behind them and then the Edwin Jagger. All really good performing razors. I just get the most consistently comfortable and BBS results from the Futur. With the lowest setting and the BiC CP blade it's like I can't mess up. Targets only the stubble and minimizes skin irritation. It's just so perfect for my skin and face.

The brush is no good - much too floppy.
I did not manage to whip up a decent lather - result was a very thin lather.
As a check whipped up a new lather using a synthetic brush - now a great lather.
