I definitely recommend the Dovo shavette! Sometimes, I want a straight shave without stropping, especially since I am a sub teacher.

good morning gents..Fat friday..found a tuck of blades in my vintage stash after a chat with our Jon @BlueShaver .. 20191003_084531.jpg
with a new blade locked and loaded in the 1934 new deluxe/karve special..MWF lathered in the captain'copper bowl with jr's #282 zebrawood badger, got a fantastic near bbs shave in 2 combination passes with minor pick ups..lovely smooth shave no drama..this razor combo is quite heavy now so i took my time.spots and moles wouldn't stand a chance..perfect balance..soap was slick and rich, the blade smooth and sharp..will do a spoiler blade comparison after a couple of shaves.if it's anything like its spoiler brother it will last awhile..razorock puros a/s to finish..awesome.have a fantastic friday everyone..

Happy Friday everyone. When the new razor arrived, I had the intention of waiting until the weekend to give it a try. Given my lack of patience, there was no way that was going to happen. So up today is the Tatara Nodachi razor. The major differences between this and the Tatara Masamune are the increased blade gap, narrower top plate, and heavier handle. The little Shavemac D01 3 band whipped up a nice slick lather with ease. Every time, I think this it needs to go, I realize how much I enjoy using the brush. From the first stroke you could tell this is not the Masamune. The positive blade exposure and gap let you know the blade is there but the shave is still extremely smooth. Much smoother than the OC Masamune and even smoother than the Wolfman I used the day before. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby with ease. I think the two Tatara razors will be kicking my Karve kit to the curb. Time will tell. A splash of the Asylum Colonia aftershave left my face feeling well nourished. I hope everyone has a Fantastic Friday.

Great shave and photo Gary. I bet the Karve handle did change the dynamics of the razor.

A couple nice super slick passes for a great shave to finish out the work week. I have a puck of MWF in reserve but cannot open it until I finish my current rotation. The ES is nice substitute.
