I hadn't checked today's yet. Hey.. ITS FRIDAY!

Oh my... I swear the XKCD creator must lurk on this site! Too many times it fits in way too well. Or are we an accurate snapshot on the internet culture mood swings that sway XKCD?

I'm reminded of a friend who was shopping for some random sundry once, when he remembered that he was supposed to bring a fruit salad to work. So he made a quick detour through the grocery section and picked up the supplies.

When he got to the counter, the young, cute, checkout girl blushed and gave him an "I know what you're up to" look.

It was only then that he looked down at the things he was buying:

    A bunch of bananas.
    A tub of whipped cream.
    A bunch of grapes.
    A box of kleenex.
    A jar of petroleum jelly.
    A box of condoms.
And a roll of weedeater string.

    Worst. Fruit. Salad. Ever.

On an unrelated note, I watched the colorized version of "Plan 9 from Outer Space" the other night.

    Classic!

It had the guy from Myster Science Theater 3000 doing a commentary. :happy102

What was funny though, was about 1/2 way through the movie, I notice a picture on the wall in the bedroom changes! It looks like the people who did the colorizing, added themselves into a scene, replacing a painting of a building with a modern portrait of themselves.

I am such a nerd for noticing that.

But you know, that movie has a really bad rep. People call it the "Citizen Kane" of bad movies (or in some circles, the "Howard the Duck" of bad movies), but I found myself thinking, "With a budget, some actors, some better effects, this might make a pretty good movie." The premise is actually pretty decent, and truth be told, the science was more well thought out than most of today's sci-fi blockbusters.

They don't even try nowadays. I wish we could put Ed Wood up against Michael Bay in a Jeopardy science category. I'd put money on Ed Wood.

Well except for that whole Ed Wood's dead thing... you know, that might make a difference in the game.

    I bet he'd be a real stinker.

probably not, actually, he still might win

and you know the Daily Double animations would be in sloooooooow motion, with lots of aspozions

Can we round out the panel with John Woo?

The world needs more hands-free backward wheelies with two guns fired sideways moments in gameshows!

Plus, what Final Jeopardy is complete without Trebek and Woo pulling their guns on each other and holding them barrel-to-barrel as they look sternly into each other's eyes?

4chan is a bizzare forum. /b/ is a particular section of the forum that produces strange things, plots bizarre pranks, and is the source of pretty much every internet meme in the last several years. Lolcats? Yep, that was them. All your base are belong to us? Them again.

These are also the people that recently rigged the "Most Influential People" poll at Time Magazine. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,518206,00.html

So who has seen the new Wolverine movie? It was awesome. (so tired... midnight shows were easier when I was in college and woke up at 11)
