Best to grate the puck and press it back into the dish. I use an espresso tamper, covered with plastic wrap to tamp it firmly.

Welcome, and congratulations on your first shave with a shavette! I see a DE razor in your photo. Have you been using DE's for awhile? We go by first names around here. My name is Charlie. :)

    OCtober 5th
    Razor: Cooper Monobilt
    Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (3)
    Brush: Heritage Collection Ever-Ready
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PAA Blue Samhain
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: PAA Blue Samhain

    Good morning!

Superb shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Silent alum.

I'll swap the Monobilt out for another razor tomorrow but it will come up in the rotation again before the month is out. I'm already looking forward to it. Wonderful shaver!

    Have a great weekend! [IMG]

It simply works. No issues with spinning or rattling puck. AND, moisture doesn't get under the puck to fester. Not Uncle Fester, BTW.

If you don't waterboard your soaps, the proto-lather (is that even a word ? lol) from your loading will just seal and set the puck. The issue is that because the puck is not a tight fit, blooming the puck constantly washes away the puck making it flap around.
Grating isn't a bad idea though if you bloom or if you are at the end of the puck.

I’m glad your safe and were able to help those people. What a beautiful building. Stl has some beautiful architecture. And the food. I believed I
Experienced that neighborhood when I worked for the Stagecoach Bank and the van driver drove through some bad neighborhoods to get to the Interstate for my flight out.

What blade would you compare the Sharp Star to!

@Antz, Since you are a new shavette user may I suggest the Straight Razor/Shavette Guide for Newbies. You will find it under Straight Razors in the Forum section. You will find useful tips to improve your shavette shaves.
