I would have to "ease into" a 30-day plan of same shave products. I could try 2 weeks each with my 2 Texas soaps, which would be all right,as I use Clubman with one of them anyway(the Grandpa's Barbershop from Central Texas Soaps). We shall see.

It's actually my "superpower". Shhhhhh....don't tell anyone. I'm really clueless and just fumbling around most days behind the "look". :bounce015:

No question if you like a super soft brush that is inexpensive, synthetics can be a great choice.

However, scritchy and greedy are typically indicative of cheap badger brushes, but not badgers in general, and you don’t need to spend a ton to get a decent badger if you know where to look. Stirling (Yaqui) and Whipped Dog are good inexpensive places to start.

Also, FYI, “badger” is kind of an all encompassing category like “beer” that puts together products with very different characteristics into a big category. For example, a stout, an IPA, and a Pilsner have massively different characteristics, as do two band, three band, manchurians and so on. It’d be a mistake to say “I don’t like beer because tried an IPA, and found the color was too light and it was very hoppy”. Another guy may say “I don’t like beer because I tried a porter and the color was too dark and it tasted like chocolate with no sign of hops.” I have more than 20 badgers, and their characteristics are as different as a stout is from an IPA.

My horse hair doesnt like hard pucks either . I'd just wet bottom of puck and stick it in dry bowl. Eventually it will bond with the bottom when it dries. Its frustrating at first when the puck is bouncing around the bowl , but it will hold in time.
Welcome! Theres nothing wrong with using the basics to get the job done . The shavette takes time but you will master it I'm sure .

    Sweet pic Jon!

The Sharp Star is a platinum coated blade. I would compare it to a Rapira PL or the Gillette Platinum. It was made for one year only in Russia for a specific buyer/market in 2013. It is every bit as sharp as Voskhod but with Platinum instead of Teflon for the coating and smoooooooooth.

    Really?

    Hmm. Perhaps a perception/description thing.
I get a prickle when i use a badger brush which i don't get from Badger. Scritch is perhaps that what you get from new Boars.

*wonders off to the shave library for more info....

He only used the same straight razor for 30 straight razor shaves in a row. He took my suggestion of using his Herder Ace of Spades razor because I have one and it is an excellent razor.

Oh he used the same RAZOR.. I couldn't accomplish that-I never use the same disposeABLE for more than 3 shaves.

I have to drive up to Bryson City this for a 2pm meeting. It seems we are having problems with one of the HOA contractors. Oh well, at least it will be much cooler in the mountains. Up for today is a Gem Damaskeene OC razor. The Shavemac D01 three band loaded and lathered the SV Felce Aromatica with ease. The scent of this soap is simply intoxicating. Three passes and touch ups just missed the baby. My lower right neck aided in the little guy's escape. A splash of the matching aftershave and I am ready to start the 2.5 hour drive up to the NC mountains.

Great analogy Randy. I tell people to right down the characteristics they want in a badger brushes. Chances are there is a choice that ticks most all the boxes.

Ive heard of this but never tried it yet. I have a feeling that getting caught running soap through the grater would get me banned from the utensils again. Sigh.

    Lovely Jim!

    Thank you Clint!

Simple still gets the job done. Mine was a very basic shave yesterday also.

Rod never fails to deliver a high end product! Great soaps which lather easily and perform.

    Very well said Joe!

It's soap. Tell the missus you're giving the grater a thorough cleaning. :)
