Uwe Boll's goal in life is to take the greatest games ever made (and some crappy ones) and turn them into movies so foul that it destroys the properties outright.

I think he gets financing for his movies the same way he defends them. "I need 25 million dollars to make a movie out of Pac-man and you're going to provide it or I'll pummel your face."

How did we start at the same time and you are only at 300. I thought you were more vocal than me. What gives?

sol92258 I have no earthly idea

same here, even if the plot and story suck, the special effects should be good....remember, I'm the guy that will not watch a movie if I detect from the previews an over-reliance on special effects - it's just that some movies lend themselves to a lot of SFX (space movies, sci-fi...), and some do not (Fast and Furious, which I will not watch)
then why have most of us never heard of them?

Funny thing about those Uwe Bolls movies is watching the DVD extras where everybody expounds and pontificates about the wonderful creative process, how he's a real 'actors director', the serious work they're doing, yada, yada, yada. I don't know how they can keep a straight face. Funny thing is he manages to con some fair talent to his projects. I saw some wizzards and witches thing he did with Ray Liotta and Jason Stratham recently. Two pretty good actors by all accounts. What the heck were they thinking? You can't say it was a payday movie for them...straight to DVD I believe. Uwe Bolls has the ability to draw people in and get on board. You've gotta give him that.

Do we need to know who someone is for them to be influential? The conspiracy theorists would say no. :D /b/ starts a lot of internet trends that quickly grow without the majority involved realizing where it came from. They also have launched strange campaigns and attacks versus some websites, though that activity is technically against 4chan's rules.

I think everyone in the film business is in a bit of a fantasy world. They think they're doing grand works, when by and large they're just providing cheap carnival thrills. That said, I enjoy many of the cheap thrills while waiting for the truly great works that come around from time to time (and Peter Jackson just hasn't lived up to the standard he set with LotR since.)

I read an article that covered the fight. Maybe Wired? Anyway, it was hilarious. Uwe Boll earned my respect with that stunt.

    According to Wikipedia:

Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff.

So my interpretation of this is that Uwe Boll is a direct product of State enforced Socialism.

[obvious statement] because we're old. [/obvious statement]

This is a mystery that ranks right up there with Hoffa, the Bermuda Triangle, and socks disappearing in the dryer. Who knows? It makes no sense whatsoever and makes my head bone hurt.
