  1. Thanks Joe.

It is also warped. Rolling x's on flat stones is where I started. Got it shaving on flat stones at first, that way.

X stroke on a convex is norm. Bevel was reset on convex arks, refined on a convex coticule and finished on a pasted balsa progression. It is a little early in my journey to identify exactly what and how individual components contribute to my results. So far so good though.

I have a Japanese western grind about the same size that handles better because it does have file jimps on one side. I want to improve the edge on that one day and see how it compares.

  5. Thank you Joe,

    Thank you Bill.

    Thank you Jason.
  6. Nice report Neal!

Love that setup Bill! I would like to use a straight but dont think I have patience enough to do the honing.
  7. Runs through the room naked.....wait a minute it is Fuzzy who does that.

    Still alive and shaving, just checking in;

  8. Is this scent stanky or just overpowering? It seems to get mixed reviews.
  9. Thanks! I'm enjoying all 3 hobbies. The third being TSD.

  10. I am sure glad my tools have gotten better with some practice. No wonder the guy who owned them last got rid of them.

  11. OCtober Spicy MWF break

Old Spice Musk SC, A-400 badger brush, Suribachi, cool water
'34 GilletteRed & Black RFB 3pc OC, Gillette Silver Blue
RazoRock Alum, Shulton Old Spice AS
SOTD 10062019.gif Took a shave off from the MWF for a Spice Sunday. More on that at the end. First use of this made in India shave cream. Scent is light but the OS is there. Easy to load - squirt it into the bowl... Whipped up plenty of lather in no time and seems quite thirsty for a prehydrated product. The Alpha 400 brush has a big ole fat gob of badger hair that delivered well. Fresh blade in the Raised Flat Bottom Deluxe handled as it should for three passes, and a little clean up duty. No errors, even got the pesky hard to shave lower neck beard. Alum swiped a little loud but I've not been using it on the regular so it might just be how it feels? I do like the skin tightening feeling. Splash of old Old Spice to cap of a comfy "after everyone else went to bed" moment of me time.

A little frustrated with the just a little too small puck of MWF bouncing around in the tub. I weighed it, added water, weighed it again. Haven't used it since 10PM on the 4th, tonight's preliminary mass; 366 grams. That's showing 2 grams evaporation in 48 hours. After adding approximately 25ml of ambient temp tap water; 391 grams. All measurements with the lid included. I'm hoping the +/- 118gram puck will take on the approximately 20% mass of water, swell up, and get with the program. Lid's back on and I expect to shave again (S)TTS.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

  13. Sadly I came to the Drunken Goat party late. I bought a used tub this summer and of course it is out of production now. :sick002:
  14. It is a busy time for me, I will be back in the later part of October.

  17. Great shave, Rick, and I'm impressed with the scientific MWF sousing method.

  18. Keith, it's great to hear from you, and, as usual, your shaves are top shelf! We're relieved to see that you haven't moved to the country and started growing a beard. Do you still have violin music playing in the background while you shave?
