Stunning razor, Ken, and that Rubberset 200 isn’t far behind it, either!

Well, you really mean enabled to get one. I understand. Shavers are reluctant to graduate into traditional straights because of the cleaning, the oiling, the stropping, the honing and the storing. The good thing is whenever you decide to delve into straights, the transition from shavettes will be very easy. The other factor is the initial outlay for a straight and a strop. I won't lie, but traditional straight razor shaving is a commitment.

    OCtober with the FAT

    October 7

    Razor - Fatip Piccolo
    Blade - rapira-super-stainless.jpg (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Stirling Finest Badger
    Post - Alum

Welcome to an auspicious day. Yes, it's a day that everyone should know, recognize and celebrate. It's a big birthday today! October 7th. Whose birthday, you ask? Why this guy, of course.

    Putin.jpg

Yes, Vladimir Putin was born on this day in 1952. However - just in case you're not a fan of Russians, guys who run around shirtless or just Putin as a person, there is another person who was born on October 7. This time in 1959

    BAMF smallest.jpg
So, even if you don't want to celebrate a Russian President's birthday, you can always celebrate a fake Russian Blade Cartel Czar. Your choice. Russian or Russian wannabe. Or neither. Who am I kidding? You can ignore the whole thing.

Good couple of days on the birthday train, though as my wife made sure to make me aware of another year rolling around on the calendar. Happy to have hung around for another trip around the sun. I'll let you know how I feel about it if I'm still here on the next one. Don't expect anything bad to happen. Just realize another decade is gone. Sheesh!

Well, anyway on to the shave. Switched out to the Fatip Piccolo for the OC razor and went to load a Sharp Star and realized they were all upstairs. All 1200+ of them. I'm old now, so didn't climb the stairs but just loaded a Rapira Super Stainless. Sweet blade at a great low price point. Never disappoints. I weighed the FAT at 297 grams, so a 1 gram reduction overnight and used the very nice Stirling badger brush for a great lather. Three passes and I'm as smooth as a wrinkled old guy can get. Took a hit of Geritol to get my energy up to use the alum and found no irritation. Or maybe I can't remember if there was any - either way, it's a win.

Great shave and I hope you all had a great day! Have an even better Tuesday!

Well....I never did make a bowl yet. Always lots of snowy days ahead to retreat to the workshop. I also poured an epoxy mold for a travel brush but havent gotten to it yet either .
