Warming up... great weather right now. Just stuck at work as usual

 

Just got back from kite festival... will go back and check the back-log in a bit. I just figured I would wave a big hello before I clean up and start working on supper.

 

Playing tech support again.

This time, it's something I have no experience with. Girlfriend's computer stopped booting up. Okay. That's fine. We can try fixing that. Let's get a recovery CD in there. Oh? The CD drive doesn't work. Let's pop that hard drive into an external enclosure and work on it through USB.

Okay... everything seems fine, but I can't figure out how to fix the MBR (Windows XP) over the USB disk.

Help anyone? Jim? Santa?

Just finished inventorying all my shaving crap....updated my cabinet - check it out....

Dom, I think I may have you beat for aftershaves - although most of mine are samples... actually, the majority of my stuff is samples...

I didn't realize how ridiculously big it was....but remember, most of those creams are in Quarter sized containers.....

Afternoon, ladies & gents.
It's my work weekend so I'm up and about a bit earlier than usual.
I skipped shaving last night due to time constraints, but today was shave #2 with the Bull Mastiff... Even with the extra growth I got BBS from two passes and a little touch up around the chin & jaw line (my trouble spots).
The thing I have to say I'm enjoying most is that the old style head is absolutely the best for getting those pesky whiskers at the base of my nose.
Everything else I've had to twist and turn and try to tug my nose upward to get. ::kar

Anyway, it's time to head to work... gotta finish my coffee.

I'm digging my Big Fellow with the Old Type head....I think that head works great with a big heavy handle....with the ball end handle it just wasn't right....

 

Glad to hear the old type works for you, I've tried one several times but it wasn't pretty. Maybe like Matt says, I need to try a heavier handle.

 

Also what I found (thanks Tom Pike - I didn't notice it before) was that the blade can get a little crooked....you have to be very attentive when tightening it down so that it stays even on both sides and straight with the edge...

The first few times I tried an Old Type I didn't know that about the blade and decided I didn't like it....however, I also think the handle makes the razor. But I'm partial to heavier razors - I don't like the Super Speed, ball end handle (NEW, Old, Tech) on bit....

 

I may revisit it someday, I have a Gillette Goodwill O\C I still have to try.

 

Cool! Where'd you pick that one up from? I haven't come across a Goodwill or New Improved yet....in due time...

 

I picked up a goodwill in a lot on eBay... I saw one just the other day on there. I wonder if that auction is ended...

I kind of hated my Old the first time I tried it. Horrific razor burn. Then I noticed the blade was very mobile and could be centered. Love the Old now, but it still kind of scares me :scared003

I'd love to try a Goodwill or a New Improved. Really like my New and the blade centers easily.

 

well made it home got some yummy for the tummy and I am now working on a good cuppa coffee. ahhhhh life is good. Joe Kidd on the boob tube.

Very nice, I have been tempted to make a Pearson-Roller. That was until I had a dog and sewing kites was no longer an easy option. Now shaving supplies eats up all that hobbies time and money.

The weather was nice and the wind was iffy this morning. Wind kept dying off and daughter was having issues so we went home. After lunch I went back to fly without wife/daughter. The wind was pretty good the rest of the time. Mostly I flew the 6 foot box delta and 11 foot double box delta that I made. However, I occasionally got out my daughters sled and my lil genki (another two kites I made). For a while I also had out my Premier Power Sled 14. However, the commercial kite just bored me so it wasn't out long.

Lil genki had a rod fall out in the field and I couldn't find it. Just finished replacing its wing spreader.

Box delta got its twister tail tangled in the line of a large parasail. Wing spar snapped but I was able to replace it out in the field.

I always love it when people ask me where I bought my kites. They don't know how to react when I tell them that I made them myself.

Back to razors....

Goodwill is nice, but very similar to a NEW. I still am trying to get a New Improved. However, wife informs me we need to go on a tight budget the next two months, so any more *AD will just have to wait.

 

I have a few things to do before crash time.. but by 2030 i should be in lala land.


I love my NEW improved.. even though I have not used it in some time.
