    OCtober MWF & a OC!

Mitchell's Wool Fat SS, The King badger brush, suribachi & cool water
Yaqi Mellon DOC on Maggard #18 handle, Gillette Silver Blue blade
    RazoRock Alum, Tabac AS
SOTD 10082019 MWF reset 419g-406g.gif So I voided all data on the MWF start up by submerging the puck and letting it set for bit. This evening the puck had swelled to fill the dish. Fairly certain there's evaporation happening since the container lost 2 grams over 24 hours. Top of the puck had a clear jelly like layer that might have been high in lanolin. Gently loaded an almost dry badger brush, went to the bowl, and a decent looking lather happened. On application it looked good, but these was dissipation. The slick never quit. Love the feel of this double open comb. Those slots in the cap leave trails of lather. This soap has good residual slickness. Combining the two effects allow for overlapping passes. Then there's the deceptively mild feel of the razor, but it's blade exposure is so efficient. I may stick with this combo for a couple of shaves. No nicks, and the long heavy SS handle seemed to give advantage for my lower neck clean up. Finished with the Tabac and now I'm wondering if it was the thing I did to the soap, the razor/blade combo, or the As that gave the very comfortable face feel. Worth trying for a repeat.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    Greetings Gentlemen.

I did a Farwell test shave with a couple of tools that I am passing on to Patrick @9nein9, A good guy who started in here at TSD about the same time I did showed some interest in the dark side. He did a 30 day with a shavette a couple of years ago and has a great set of MAYhem tools so edge forward shaving is not totally new.

I consider both of these razors shave ready and smooth. Hopefully I've provided a nice springboard to jump in on. If anyone has an unused strop looking for a new home, I'm sure it will be put to good use there.

I used each razor alternatively through my shave and compared. While each shaves a little different, both deliver nice results.

    Wagner 4/8 vs Gold Dollar

I like the Gold Dollar better for the size and weight myself.

I've learned much in my honing training with these tools. I used several different methods and styles to get them shaving. Both are currently coticule honed and finished on pasted balsa strops progressing to 1/10 micron cBN. At this point I'm prepared to work more confidently on razors I never considered 'expendable'.

    Great shave. Be well.

PS. @Trigger, Joe I did pull off the dropped edge, under the jaw, ear to center move without 'peeling the apple'. I was reminded why I usually skip it. By the time I have my chin poked in the air and tilted over, at the same time I got a good over/around the head stretch going....... 40% of the stroke is blindsided.

I tried that technique with a new puck of MWF. Yes, it filled the ceramic bowl, but definitely leeched all of the lanolin out of the puck. IMO, ruined it and I ended up tossing it. It seems that he best medicine for MWF is daily usage. Use it or lose it, as the saying goes.

    Good Wednesday morning to all.
Can't seem to get Williams to lather so I guess it's Woolly Wednesday.
Fat, Fatip, and Feathers are on the menu this morning. The Fatip has been a great head shaver and never shorted me when it comes to closeness. Went the full distance with one blade, 2 passes on the face, 2 passes on the head. Got a little rough on the last pass but no tugging or pulling, so I kept on. Loadig this brush by simply dipping the tip into water, seems to be the trick.
    Nice!

I'm clean, smooth and ready for the day.
Not quite as smooth as the Blackhawk and Feather combo but not bad at all.

    All
    Enjoy

Very pleased with my shave this morning. Those "fellers" from Texas will see more business from me in the future(The Soap Exchange&Central Texas Soaps). I had one of my favorit e combos today(Lumberjack from TSE and the aftershave offered by AgadirMen). I probably could have added more of the Agadir, but I had to get up rather early , thus the energy was lacking some. Will add more tomorrow. Yet even so, the Oud Wood fragrance is indeed present. One of the features in the soap is Kaeolin Clay, which is a nice addition for keeping the shave fresh and clean. I feel the same about a different clay-Bentonite. I say different because each one has its own benefits. Off to a great start shavewise today :).
