Its so sharp that i didnt even feel it shaving my whiskers and at first i thought it wasnt doing anything until i rinsed it off and realised how good these blades really are lol. Time to switch razors again so the 1918 Gillette Old Style is up. What a great razor this one is. Original plating, part of a military set so it may have once been owned by a WWI era soldier, and it's now 101 years old! Still looks and works like the day it came out of the factory. I remembered to take some Sharp Stars down to the den so they're back in play. It's a "Stirling Sheep" day with mutton tallow so I chose the Sheep soap. Just the basics, please. Unscented, just a bit of a musky odor from the tallow and it makes the slickest and most protective lather I've ever used. The JR54 was perfect in making that happen.

This razor can bite or create lots of irritation. The key? Angle and pressure. Imagine that - technique!! Ride the cap, hold the handle close to the ball and let the weight do all the work and you end up with three passes of perfection. No burn from the alum at all, no blood, just a quality shave. Gotta love it. Looking forward to a couple more with this setup.

Rainy day in the Lou today. Cards are home tomorrow night to start the NLCS!!! Predicting 40's for the temperature....sounds like St. Louis baseball weather!! Go Cards!!

Happy Friday. I am so happy today is Friday. I am still pretty weak with some dizziness but I will try to make it at work. The silivertip brush loaded and lathered the LPV with ease. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby with no drama, errors, nicks or weepers. A splash of Dominica Grand Bay Rum aftershave has me smelling good and ready for the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Blade: vintage Gillette Spoiler
Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Brush: Omega 10049 boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Fat Friday and a great shave occurred. The Fatboy on 9 is smooth as silk. The whiskers are reduced with ease, particularly with a backdrop of Fat lather. Big splash of Fine American Blend to finish it off. Today is a teacher workday without students. They also have Monday off, but we still have a game tonight, so I'll go to work and then all the kids will report tonight for the game. Hopefully I can steal away and have lunch with Alice.

Um...Dippity Doo? That's gotta be similar to the 'Chim Chim Cherie' method of cleaning a smokestack....

Blade: Gillette 7o'clock Permasharp Stainless (3)
Brush: Heritage C-MON
Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
PAA Galactic witch hazel
PAA unscented Star Jelly
AS: Brut

Good morning!

Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Light tickle from the alum.

So far this month I've been doing 20 second brush loads, down from my usual 30 seconds. I'm not doing this to save soap but more to save time. Plenty of soap for at least five passes and less time adding water to bring the soap to my preferred consistency. I give my brushes a good squeeze and a sharp flick before loading. So far this method has worked very well for me with most soaps. The lone exception would be B&M Reserve, I skip the flick to start with a wetter brush and do a 15 second load.

Happy Friday. I am so happy today is Friday. I am still pretty weak with some dizziness but I will try to make it at work. The silivertip brush loaded and lathered the LPV with ease. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby with no drama, errors, nicks or weepers. A splash of Dominica Grand Bay Rum aftershave has me smelling good and ready for the day. Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Blade: vintage Gillette Spoiler
Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Brush: Omega 10049 boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Fat Friday and a great shave occurred. The Fatboy on 9 is smooth as silk. The whiskers are reduced with ease, particularly with a backdrop of Fat lather. Big splash of Fine American Blend to finish it off. Today is a teacher workday without students. They also have Monday off, but we still have a game tonight, so I'll go to work and then all the kids will report tonight for the game. Hopefully I can steal away and have lunch with Alice.
