I was just gifted two Gillette DE razors from my uncle . My research tells me my a Gillette Rocket from Europe. My uncle said he purchased it in the mid 50s before immigrating to Canada and a Super 109 from 1970 I was able to date .. they need a good cleaning but parts seem to work fine.. this getting fun

I've read that LeCoq may have made multiple versions of this razor; an aggressive version and a milder version. My hand is still bothering me so shaving is still a bit of an issue; I'm not shaving every day. I get my stitches out next Friday, maybe that will help - I can't get it wet, movement is still compromised, and there is still some pain. I can't stretch my skin in my neck area so I am having some problems shaving properly there. I do get to remove my bandages and wrapping tonight and replace with new bandages/wrapping.

I did a 1 pass shave today, WTG and was DFS. I used a very light touch on the razor and there was a lot of blade feel and the shave was very efficient, and my DFS was nearly BBS. Eighth shave with this blade and maybe it's done or near done. The MWF lathered up well but I'm not sure I like this scuttle for bigger brushes. It's a shallow scuttle and I really had to work to keep the lather in the scuttle which seems counterproductive. This scuttle is better with smaller brushes like the Duke 1 or smaller. I had no weepers but the alum was very vocal particularly at my jaw line and in my neck area. Felt the Baum.BE was the best choice to satisfy my skin.

Overall, a pretty good shave. Have a few more French razors that will be the razors for my next few shaves this weekend and next week.

3 pass DFS+ again today. Ordered this Heritage brush handle knotless. Last night, got around to installing a 26mm Zenith boar transplant. The combo made an awesome MWF lather today, and the Puma 89 Special handily whisked away everything in it's path, no nicks, irritation, just smooth skin.

An unusual weekend off for me for this time of year, and it's packed with band, music and volunteering. Somewhat similar to Perry, our HS schedule is a half day (exams), but then a mid afternoon dress rehearsal band show practice, followed with a 5:00pm call time for an away game. Tomorrow is our 3rd of 4 weekends straight of marching band competitions. The band is in full uniforms now....and coming off a great competition last weekend. A 2nd place overall, so the students and directors are very stoked for tomorrow's competition. Sunday is a fun day too, as I get to take my oldest to her symphony practice with the Dallas Youth Symphony Orchestra. Completely pumped!

Another irritation free two pass shave. Nicked a mole, but the bleeding stopped very quickly with a little bit of alum. Apart from the nick, it was a good shave.

The Fat... is so frustrating me. Just when I think I've figured something out it changes the game. This morning I used only the CA water to load and lather the soap. Loaded super goop style, light pressure using only the tips of the brush adding a few drops of water about every 10 seconds until the knot was full of soap. Took the brush to the bowl and started building my lather, again adding water incrementally a few drops at a time. Lather quickly became frothy again. I decided to just go with it and painted the lather on. This time instead of the lather drying out in my face it just vanished. I completed my first pass then took the brush back to the tin and did a quick load of soap and face lathered for the second pass. Built up some volume and then painted in some water. This lather was somewhat better, it was definitely thicker and had some creamyness to it but we were back to the lather drying out on my face. Finished the second and third pass uneventfully. Immediately after rinsing off my face it felt dry and tight. A generous splash of B&M Fougere Angelique helped
restore some of the moisture to my skin and left me smelling great. I'm seriously considering pulling the plug on Fat-tober. I feel bad because it was my comment that got everyone all fired up the use the Fat all month long, but I'm just not enjoying my shaves with it. Oh well, Cest la vie. My first straight razor. The one I learned on.
Gave it some royal treatment on the strops and it didn't let me down.
The MWF continues to impress.
Bloomed/Soaked Brush/Puck lathering is my no-fail system.
The scales on the W&B are broken at the hinge and I am concerned that they'll soon give way.
Debating a re-scaling, as the 4/8 blade has a really nice edge, but has become "floppy" in my hand.
2 passes only today resulted in merely a DFS shave, but I didn't mind.
The pièce de résistance was the Old Spice Leather.

My Bride and I had a pleasant diversion this afternoon. We went to check out a friend's new toy. The weather was not great, so we'll go back for a ride when there's no chance of rain. This is quite a change of pace from my 10-year old Toyota with 150K on it.

I was more impressed with his garage floor, BTW.

Heres some Frankensoap for Friday. The level dropped last week after my brother smelled it and asked what kind it was . I just laughed and said " I forget , but its all Stirling samples ". And off he went with a few sample containers of the Gin and Tonic on the rocks , Frankensoap and and some BOS 2019. Also gave him a few tubes of other shave creams I never used . Share and share alike they say.
He assumes I have enough to last 50 years but little does he know I'm not near done accumulating just yet. TGIF!

Using some great Open Comb razors and the Mighty Fat every Monday/Wednesday/Friday!

Using some great Open Comb razors but no Fat. Something else on that end.

Open Combs and the Fat on Tuesday/Thursday - just to be difficult.

Still gonna shave with straights!

Whatever I choose because I just roll that way!
