I love the 50's British Gillettes. The best they made in my opinion. I love the cases as well. I find modern razors supplied with a cardboard box such a disappointment.

It's just quite annoying that it's really hard to find old gillettes over here, and then when you do, there is something wrong with them. But i'm going to use it anyways.

If I am remembering correctly, @jluc and @Norcalnewb were enablers on the John Frum aroma. The Pineapple Bay Rum was @jluc I believe. His comment on the aroma matching Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum sold me instantly. Juicy Fruit gum being one that I've been buying off/on for 40+ years. I'll be using it tomorrow. The ToBS Sandalwood cologne....my first shave soap and after shave aroma (along with Proraso). The cologne was an Amazon purchase to hit same day shipping $ quota...as I needed repair parts for 22 year old bathroom appliances, and really didn't feel like going to Home Depot.

I'm a bit tight on cash now. Couldn't really afford to pay more than what i paid for that. But oh well, it has character.. :D

sometimes collectors sell for less than ebay prices, when they have said razors in triplicate.they are happy to pass the joy along and get them on a good path.nothing worse for the hobby than a gorgeous looking razor that gives bad shaves..

I'll have to try how it works. If i can get decent shaves with it, i'll use it. Might use it exclusively through next month.

Juicy Fruit gum, standing on the mound getting ready to throw that left hand curve that looks like its coming from first base. Good memories! I'm sold John Frum aroma Pineapple Bay Rum.

Not really, i see nothing wrong. In fact, it looks in very good condition!

The end caps being slightly off is very, very common and short of being utterly wonky, doesn't affect the blade position or guard gaps. It just means that the doors may not shut quite in sequence.

If that bothers you, a clean and unburred adjustable spanner across the length of the end cap can straighten them easy enough and with care, shouldn't affect any finish.

I am if course, assuming this is what you mean by blade gap? Watch carefully what happens when you close the TTO and you will see that the doors don't have a bearing on it. Blade gap is purely a function of the guard bar and if dropoed, they can droop (again, easily fixed).

I think your razor is a cracker.

Just a little clarification. I make it messy sometimes with my scatter brain thought process.

PAA John Frum - (PAA's description) -> Scent Profile: Sicilian Cedrat, Black Pepper, Sea Salt, Ambergris, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Vetiver, White Musk & Animalic Musk.

    My nose: Peppery sweet musk

PAA Pineapple Bay Rum -> Scent Profile: Pineapple, West Indian Bay Rum ---- Pineapple: juicy, nectarous, slightly sour and a very fresh fruit note that evokes the tropical pineapple fruit...duh. Phoenix Bay Rum: Smooth, Refined, Complex, Distinctive...the way Bay Rum was meant to be! It really is a nice twist or blend of two very different scent notes, Playful vs Serious. Like Captain Hook babysitting his 5 year old grandson!

Jluc (and my) nose: Juicy Fruit Gum (particularly after dry down)

    Hope that helps!
