Good morning everyone. Not much to say here other than I can't wait for summer break. I am getting tired of being up early and staying up late. So...... in my classroom we are currently going through our plate tectonics unit and working on earthquakes and volcanoes (the fun stuff). My students should have read a section on volcanoes and completed work with the sub about the differences between different types of volcanoes and how they form. Meanwhile I am at home with daughter who chose to put a How the Earth was Made marathon on and I am watching hours of stuff on earthquakes & volcanoes and going through a lot of the same stuff that my students were doing at the same time. Then in the evening I go out for an errand and come home to find my wife watching Volcano (the Tommy Lee Jones movie)...
wow...slow morning. Working PT job today, little one is staying home w/ mamma because of pink eye.... Gonna go shower/shave! New to me - Brummel A/S !! (yes, I'll post it over there, too.... )
Good morning everyone. I was reading through the posts I missed since last night and I would love to talk ink and pens with someone if they don't mind. I ordered my first fountain pen kit, low end, but I have to start somewhere. I know nothing about the inks for these. It looks like they have little cartridges. Do you just refill those with the inks you buy in bottles? Any beginner advice for a guy trying a fountain pen for the first time? Thank you!
If your pen takes a cartridge, you just replace the cartridge when it runs dry. There are replacement packs on the market in various quantities. If you want to run bottled ink in your pen, you'll need to pick up a converter.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better! http://www.yooouuutuuube.com/v/?rows=20&cols=18&id=8JvUzUjrC0s&startZoom=1
Ah. Thank you for that info. I will have to figure out what refill it actually is. When I search by their model number I just get a bunch of pen kit sites. PK10-fpr is what they list it as.
that's a bong? man I'm glad I never got into that mess.... and now another round of introductions: coffee, keyboard; keyboard, coffee roflrofl even if you catch him.......he'll be back
Wish I could help further. I'm new to the deal also. I've been combing over the info at fountainpennetwork.com to get my smarts on.
Ok, I finally made it home... I am unable to fully express how glad I am that I do not have to go to work tonight. I stopped by Home Despot on the way home and picked up the various and sundry items I require to set up my little container garden on the patio. I just home I judged the number of pots and volume of potting soil correctly.
Sounds like fun. I'll pm you later tonight with a short list of some of my inks. Would love to do a sample swap. Thanks!
It's pretty easy to refill carts from a bottle. You just need a dull syringe. Bottled ink is more economical, or at least it is until you start buying dozens of bottles So what kit did you get, and what nib? Kit nibs can be awesome writers.
I'm soon going to get my feet wet with penturning, I have a brush handle I started, but goofed up not paying attention and got it too small, so hopefully I can at least get a pen out of the deal
I'd like to see the list too tom. Rodd, ask away, send me a PM and I'll try and point you to who might know the answers. I can send you some stuff to refill carts too when I send your soap sticks. Does it say what size cartridges it takes,
gotta start somewhere, maybe if the pen thing doesn't work, you can try to make a toothpick. you can add ridges to make it look cooler. What did I miss or say??
