Hey everyone....just finished scanning through....you all type way too fast.... too many pages to just sit and read anymore.... between all the computer outages at work, and being gone all day yesterday and working today....

Things just haven't quite been the same.....

 

Honestly, I can't see how I can't complete the deal. Also, mine isn't so sloppy loose anymore....

With a blade in it, the lid snaps down without shaking now... Somebody should stop me before I disassemble the wrong razor....

At least I didn't make a hybrid out of it.. I just popped the lid off and tried to push/adjust the springs back to where they would have originally been.... The lid still isn't as tight as it is on my newer Gems... but it is much better. Went after it with some Mothers wheel polish and it is shiny. Will use a different handle on it but as long as I come out of the shave tomorrow that shave king will be going Bill's way.

 

Which handle does it have. Mine is the thinner handle then the closed comb Damskeene.

 

Here is a newb question for you pen types. Once I insert a cartridge into my FP, how do I start the ink flow? I assumed it would just flow in to the nib by itself.

So, that's a ball end NEW, an old, a fat handled tech and a Lord three piece... FOR 20 BUCKS!!! I am a happy, happy man, or for those of us who lived through the 90s- Easily amused, as the late Kurdt Cobain might say.

 

Handle looks a little thinner than the closed comb Damaskeene. However, it is hollow, and the end is hexagonal. Clearly something (stropping attachment maybe?) once attached to the end of this handle either plugging into it or over it. Being hollow, and thin walled, the handle feels very odd so I may just use a travel handle that fits the head. I can't recall if the normal Damskeene has the same thread pattern but this handle is a smaller (8-32?) thread than the (10-32?) ornate gems. I thought I still had a regular Damaskeene to compare to, but maybe I did sell all of those...

 

mine may not be a original handle.. it is solid like the regular handle just thinner. Maybe I can get a hold of Dave and ask him.

 

Don't tell me thats not the original handle, I figured it was one of the strop handle Gems. If not, I can mail you the handle off of the other O/C 1912, and we can just trade.

 

I really do not know. I only have the one. It is highly possible they are both the correct handle. Maybe there were different handles.

 

You just put it in the pen and screw it tight. It will pierce the cart when you screw it down and the ink will flow. Sometimes it takes a minute for the ink to flow thought the nib feed/manifold/collector. just hold the pen nib down for a minute or 2 and then start scribbling gentle circles.

All mute now since you already have it writing.

Dave's looks like the normal Damaskeene handle that I had before on one.

Other Damaskeene handles that have seen (and had) had an end that looked like this which Dave has already stated for a stropping attachment...



So if there were already 2 Damaskeene Handles, why not assume that the Deluxe had an earlier pair of handles that were thinner - one of which had a stropping attachment, the other did not.

 

Yea I think there is a good chance that it had several handles..
