  1. Morning Shave Fans!!!. I haven't left and for some reason the mods haven't banned me yet. I have busy with work and building my son a wooden swing set. I have been shaving with my Braun face shredder-----just kidding, sorry bad joke.

Jim, your wife and you are in my prayers.
  2. Tracy! The bag is coming your way and it hasn't been fed.

You doing alright? (And yes, I agree - the mods should have banned you ages ago).
  3. Oh. And morning, Matt and whoever else may be here.

  4. I am doing great. Just having a tough time getting on the puter at night with the nice weather. Being couped up for 3 months stinks and it is nice to finally be able to go outside and enjoy the weather.

The bag arrived yesterday. I now only have one dog and the neighbors cat is missing. I will send the bag to Shep today.
  5. Good. Then we will strike and effectively double our shave caves.

It definitely is nice to be outside these days. It has been a long winter for us (at least here in Boston), and some sun is proving to be quite enjoyable. Glad to hear you're well.
  6. Good morning!

Tracy, great to see you back!

Yeah, I couldn't wait to try it. :D I finished it with Boiled linseed oil and CA glue on the lathe. I posted some pictures in the pen thread.
  7. It looks very nice, Rodd.

Soon, you will develop another AD. :D

Did the pen kit also come with a converter?
  8. Morning Tracy, Rodd, and Dom.
Tracy good to see you back.

Dom, if the pen takes a small international cart, I don't think they make converters that small.
  9. Rodd, which CA do you use?
    the red label "hot stuff"?
  10. It didn't come with a converter unfortunately. I see the AD forming already. I saw a color list for Noodler inks. :) I suppose I should have a pen for each color too...

It came with a small international cart, and that works in it, but I wonder if there are longer ones that would work in it. The cartridge doesn't have anything above it to stop it. I had to push the cart on to the nib assembly then screw it in to the barrel. The directions recommended storing a spare cart in the barrel.
I believe it is essentially the same thing, but I used the PSI Thick.
  11. Bong - even though it takes a small international car, it should be able to fit a converter (unless the barrel of the pen is not hollow).

Yup. You can pop a converter in there. Pelikan makes long international carts (e.g. http://www.paradisepen.com/paradise/product.asp?s_id=0&pf_id=PAAAAAGELALINDEO), which should fit (seeing as you can store two short carts in the barrel).
  12. Shows how little I know.:ashamed001

I don't use converters much, and I am sticking to that story. :D

Rodd, I might hit you up on some hints on using CA as a finish.
  13. I just noticed that I said car instead of cart.

Your story sounds reasonable enough. :D

I've got a lot of pens with converters. I just took a look at the smallest pen I have (which actually sees a lot of use and is one of two daily carries), a Namiki Falcon, which has a converter that's about 1.4 short international cartridges long at most. That thing is lovely to write with but does not hold much ink at all.

I wish I had more piston fillers.
  14. AAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! I HATE hate hate hate hate online testing!!!! It's a pain in my butt! I can't get this stupid thing to work right! I hate it I hate it I hate it!!!!!!!!!

How in the holy heck can a thing work just fine one day, (passing down a shortcut and mapping a drive via logon batch file) and then the next---nothing!?! "Error 53"

Ok, drop to command prompt, use "net use" command... maps just fine!?!

Try to use it from the batch file, exact same command mind you, "error 53, network path not found"

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I mention I hate it?

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

edit: I think I figured it out. Stupid trailing slash.
  15. *slowly backs out of the room*
  16. The Falcon is the smallest pen you have?? I like my falcon a lot. It has a mottishawed nib. Ground extra fine, and I think it has been modified to give a tiny bit more flex.

That's one of the reasons I don't like converters, I feel like the cartridges hold more ink, so I just refill them with bottled ink.
  17. Yes it is. Anything smaller and I can't hold onto it or cramps. I really like the Falcon, too, though mine just has a regular M nib.

Refilling carts is a great alternative to converters. I'm convinced that the Falcon's converter is holds less than a cart.

What's the smallest pen you have?
  18. probably one of these guys, I have one in my pocket right now.(these are not mine, just an example of what the pocket long short pens look like)

you can read more about them here
  19. Morning everyone! Nice and sunny here in Pullman, at least for the next ten minutes or so :D

Jim, thinking about you and the Mrs. this morning. Good whammy power heading that way.

Good to see you again Tracy! Hope all is well.

That looks great! Those IPG nibs are pretty smooth and are nice writers. Good work, dude!

Bong, the long-shorts are very cool. I've never broken down and bought one, because I severely limit my modern pen (and almost modern pen) budget. Next up for me will probably be a L2k. The tiniest converter I've got in a pen has got to be in the VP. I have to fill it daily if I use it at work. Don't mind doing it, just hard to remember sometimes. A cart would go a lot farther - or maybe a squeezesac (a rubber sac shellaced onto a cartridge nipple).
  20. Good afternoon folks and yinzers everywhere.

Just started the process for a batch of jerky of my own. Good Eats style. Freezing a hunk of flank steak for an hour or so for easier trimming into strips, then a ~4-hour soak in a soy and worstershire sauce-based marinade, and finally 12+ hours on furnace filters strapped to a box fan set to high. Good Eats indeed. :D
