Thank you Joe. It wasnt at all like I pictured it ....especially around the throat area. Didnt shed a drop of blood so I was quite happy.

Don't worry, the red tide does come every so often because it is the price you pay when shaving in general. Just remember if you keep a light touch and just keep the blade one spine width off the face then the cuts, weeps, etc will be minimal in size and depth. Again, welcome to the traditional straight razor team.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the advice Joe. Good to know there are guys on here that can steer me the right way when it comes to the learning curve with straights .

You are very welcome, Patrick! If you haven't already done so, check out my thread on Straight Razor/Shavette Guide for Newbies under Straight Razor forum. There is some excellent info on my straight razor/shavette tips as well as from other TSD members.

Thank you Patrick! Riding the cap mostly negates the guard bar contact, but that's a secret we don't tell the New Guys. So it's Nine all the time!
Thank you Clint! Thanks to you for my interest in Rubberset 400 brush handles. Never could get my vintage one to polish up, but the B-400 fills my needs and holds a shine.
Thank Gary! That Dirty English arrived along with Juicy Juicy for my daughter. I like mine, and she was thrilled.
Thanks Jim! I may try a full on lathering and shave with the bar of Stirling PSS soon. It really does seem to be suitable.
Thanks Joe! And another DE razor I got to try. Viva la difference!

Some very nice products incoming, Perry. I love the scent of L’Orange Noir. One in one out has been quite easy for me with soaps as I’ve got a few in the back of the den I could handle losing. Razors? Different story. It has stopped me from buying a few times- don’t want to move any along at this point.

My goodness, Joseph. The juice..the brush... just awesome.
Some nice Euro software today, Ken. Love that knot as well.
Another nice shave with the Belmont, Tom.
Great to see your shaves again, Keith. Hope things have slowed down a bit for you.
Doubly awesome, Patrick! The straight shave AND Swmbo’s Seal of Approval on the Gentleman. You, sir, have arrived.
Fantastic RickPic! That brush is pretty cool as well.

Wow long day today. Never got 30 seconds to post this.

Razors: Gillette NEW LC and Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade: Polsilver
    Brush: Razorock Barber 24
    PS & AS: Proraso
    SS: Razorock Blue Label

Did a side by side with the two razors discovered this month. 2 grade razors for sure. The Aristocrat is less aggressive and the LC gives a little closer shave. Not surprising. Both will be enjoyed many times going forward. [IMG]

:happy096: A fantastic start, impressive for your first straight razor shave. After the shavette you should have no problems with straights.
