Tech month will probably teach me a lot, i'll just have to figure out the other gear i'll use then. Probably Proraso with the synth brush, but tub or tube, which AS etc..

My FWP with the OneBlade Hybrid. At the current price, $199, for me to spend the dough, it should be darn near perfect in fit/finish. Other current DE/SE razors in this $$$ range are. Throwing out the fact I'm still working on the perfect head angle/pressure thing.....there shouldn't be moulding/machining marks on the heavy duty plastic handle (where the pivot area is). It's only slightly better than the Core (some extra buffing probably). Also, the FHS blade sticks out the back of the head ~1mm on all 3 of the OneBlade razors. Should be flush, IMO, if only for aesthetics. It's not an insertion/removal issue, the heads have a cutout for fingers to have enough area to do this. So...with the four strikes I have on the OneBlade (the last being the proprietary blade system, yes, I could use a de-spined GEM blade, but that's extra work for a $$$ razor).....I think I may end up with the Core as the only OneBlade for me, even considering the 14 day trial coupon of $79 off either the Hybrid and Genesis.

I'm pretty set with DE razors at a only handful. Same for SE razors very soon. Open blades will continue to be the 'Ooh, that's purdy....gotta have it' item for me.

I agree with you, Blair. The cachet of owning and using a traditional straight razor is heads and tails above a safety razor. Now, that isn't to say that safety razors aren't aesthetically cool. It is just different.
