My Bride completed her first treatment today with no ill effects. It's early, so the nest few days should tell the story. It has been busy seeing doctors, getting things scheduled, and getting our questions answered over the last few days. Things are beginning to settle into a manageable routine. We're grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from everyone. Thank you all.

I managed to pull a "Charlie" this morning on the way to our treatment. I was not paying attention. I rushed out the back door into the garage in my socks, lost my balance on the bottom step, and fell onto the garage floor. I caught myself with my right arm and thankfully landed on a row of shoes that served to cushion the fall. It could have been much worse, but I think I sprained my wrist. Otherwise, I feel OK. I'm being encouraged to pay the doc a visit in the morning to get his verdict. The wrist is sore and stiff right now, but everything seems to be moving OK. I'm a lefty, so my shaves will not be compromised. I just won't be using my right hand for skin stretching for the next couple of days. I am more concerned that I can't eat ice cream with both hands.

I'm hopelessly behind on the thread with no hope of catching up. If someone can list the individual month-to-date purchases greater than $250 each, shaving accidents involving blood spillage greater than 2 gallons, new CT's awarded, and a list of current hot topics (bloom vs. no bloom, veg vs. tallow, country vs. western, Ky vs. St. Louis BBQ, two-sided thingy vs. one-sided thingy, etc.) that would be helpful. Also, if @Terry is using more than 5 new DE blades per shave, I'd like to know that as well. (Yes, without having any relevant/current information, I can stir the pot. )

You will. Stropping is important before every shave. Don't pull the strop so tight that it doesn't give and don't keep it so loose that you roll the blade or cut the strop. Don't go fast when you are stropping and make sure the spine stays straight on the strop with any herky-jerky movements. Remember, when you first learned to ride a bike and fell down until you got the balance and speed right? Same thing with stropping. It's a new skill and it takes time to perfect it.

Also roll the razor on the spine when changing direction. You will nick a strop or 2, but far more likely if you are turning the edge towards the strop.

I find handling bigger heavier blades easier. A small shift with a light, small blade results in a much angle change than with a big blade. Also I find when I get the edge right on straight razor is smoother and more forgiving than a DE or Feather Pro blade.

A big 7/8 Dorko today. She is a hollow grind and makes a lot noise during the shave, you can the stubble pinging as they get sheared.

Day two for the Professional Super blade and sure enough, @Terry I can feel a difference.
Not huge, but that "slice easily and effortlessly" though the stubble isn't what it was yesterday.

The CH3 loaded about half-a-puck of MWF and held on to it like grim death

and the Chubby gave up its luscious lather.
One of the best aspects of traditional wet shaving is the prep.
The Feather mowed down the stubble fairly effortlessly.

Excellent shave Perry! For a really stiff badger brush I just use the face of the knot to lather, not splaying it really much at all really. It takes a little getting use to but that soft wall of badger scrub is divine!!

The V1 sounds fantastic, Terry. I like the V2, but do wish for a little more weight in the head.

How did I know you'd match that Heritage with a Brut bottle...awesome.
Interesting that you shave pre-shower, Jim. When do you apply the splash? After the shower? If so, does your face feel raw in the shower?

Others on here have many more Badger brushes than I, Perry, but from the perspective of someone who does put together a fair number of knots and handles, I feel that the depth is really important with badgers. Just a few millimetres can make a big difference in splay and face feel, especially with a scritchier knot to begin with. I have adjusted the depth of a few of mine with noticeable results. If Jim set your knot with epoxy, well then that is that. The knot will loosen up a bit, and Clint's advice of splaying it forcefully a time or two is sound advice.

Sounds like a great shave, Clint. That bowl is starting to develop a really nice patina already. Beautiful.

Sounds like huge improvements with the razor already, Danny. Knew it would happen. 39 degrees? It was just above freezing here this morning as well. High of 52F today. About usual for the Canadian Rockies nearing the end of October. Local golf courses closed this past weekend.

As promised Danny @Hembree , today I pulled out my ATT Atlas with the H2 baseplate. With a slightly steeper angle and a feather light touch this razor is a BBS machine! A super shiny slick lather was made from the Tabac that allowed the blade to glide over my skin with ease. Two passes is enough with this razor but I did a third just for fun! A generous splash of Queen Anne's Revenge AS covered up the old man aroma nicely. Have a great day my friends!

Another Tech shave today. With goo! On the first pass i applied it to wet face with my hand. It dried on my face, but the first pass was still decent enough. On the second pass, i mixed some water to the foam with a brush, and it was a lot slicker and didn't dry on my face. Not quite as good as soap or cream from a tube, but not too far from it. Residual slickness was a bit lacking though. The shave was close, and it was a really good one. One weeper again though. But i'll keep working on my technique.
