    Lovely colours.
Thank you for offering your impressions on the performance of the soap. From all of the reviews I had read, I was (or still am) expecting the post-shave to be very much superior to any soap available. However, you are the first person to offer a tempered opinion regarding the post-shave. I haven't bought any soap in quite some time, so I think I may have to try this base to see how good the post-shave really is. :)

    PSC Caffeinated After Shave Balm

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The PSC Caffeinated Shaving Cream face lathered well with the Jayaruh #340 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the TNNSER 3D Black/Green razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with PSC Caffeinated After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

@jtspartan did a wonderful job making the brushes. I ended up with two of them. This one with the synthetic knot and the other has a Maggards SHD bulb.

    Thank you, sir.

    I like this shot, Gary.

I have no skin in the game, so it's just an honest opinion. Every aspect of the soap is elite level for certain, but as I suggested, there's a point in which one can't make a huge leap forward because limits of perception are fast approaching. Note I did not say limits of conception. For example, when 720p "HD" hit the consumer market, it was beautiful. Then, when 1080p became the norm, 720p became inferior and the difference was perceptible. The same leap, however, did not occur with 4k. Sure 4k looks much better (still perceptible), but not vastly so. This is because we're approaching a resolution in which the human eye can no longer perceive a significant difference, yet consumer 8k is on the horizon, and I'm sure there will be something beyond even that. However, unless one changes the human interface to something other than our native biological eyes, there will be a point in which we will not notice (perceive) the increase in resolution. Yet, the ability (concept) to keep achieving higher resolutions will be attainable, but we, as humans won't have an interest in it at least in terms of image quality.

There is a level of slickness that a soap can achieve that is, to me, perfect, and there are a few artisanal soaps that are very near that. At which point any increased slickness beyond that will be imperceptible to me. The same can be applied to post-shave. Once the products can make my skin feel as soft and hydrated as if there was never hair nor blade there, then anything beyond that becomes unnatural. Then there's a range in which unnatural is actually good. This is what CK-6 does for my skin. It is an unnatural softness, but pleasant nonetheless, and it lasts well into the stubble re-proliferation period. If it were to be pushed beyond that (inconceivable to me), then if would feel odd and thus be undesirable. This is sort of the uncanny valley of shave soaps, if you will.

This is not to say that the artisans should stop experimenting or creating. They're all still left with addressing matters of skin types, hair types, water quality, water temperature, allergens, cost, and so on. But ultimately, when I hear someone say any one product blows all the other elite products out of the water, my hyperbole meter is immediately pegged.
