Hey Rodd on that brass handle brush how did you get that knot of glue out of it.. I cut the bristles off and tried boiling it to get the old glue out but did not soften
You probably won't want to hear this now, but I grabbed the handle with one hand, the bristles with the other and yanked. The glue was old and crusty and just popped right out. I have done several other brushes by cutting and drilling/grinding though. Now that you have the bristles cut down I would drill a hole. With a plastic or wood handle I take a forester bit that is just smaller than the knot, then grind the last bit out, with a metal one like this I would drill a smaller hole through the glue, then grind out the rest with a dremel. The knot won't be set deep. To keep the glue from coming out I filled the handle with epoxy and filler so that it is now solid instead of hollow, the final layer of epoxy then holds in the knot. Epoxy bonds great to epoxy, and it is also bonded to the ridge and walls of metal. Let me know if you have any questions along the way.
Been that way all my life starting on the family camp out on the river sandbar at 6 weeks old.. fried under a canvas tarp they tell me..
