Do yourself a favor and get a stirling brush first. Good quality, doesn't break the bank, and won't fall apart in a few uses.

Omega boar brushes are good and very inexpensive. Great synthetic brushes can be had quite cheaply as well, from several different brands

I'm from the other side of the pond, so i might not be the best person to answer this really. Quick google search tells me that Omega 10049 can cost less than ten bucks. Synths can be had for around that price too i think, possibly a little bit more. Choose by what characteristics you want in a brush, the price differences are fairly small.

Stirling synthetics start around 12-15 bucks plus shipping. That's a good place to get a good soap as well. The descriptions are well stated.

Cheap brushes are usually crap and cost you a bit more than inexpensive brushes do. Beware. If you buy a cheap brush you will need another one to back it up. A nice inexpensive synthetic or boar will do you good and last.

Heed the advice posted and you'll be good to go.

If you want inexpensive and quality boar brushes, check out Omega. If you want synthetic, check out JeCo brushes.
