Latest Monobilt I've acquired after selling my last one.

Best shave also I've ever gotten from any Cooper including the other more ornate handle style of Monobilt.

Don't see many knurled handle Monobilts around. Nice looking razor.

Yeah exactly, that is why bought it in the first place. This will be the 4th Monobilt I've owned but first one with this style of handle. I should have prefaced my shave statement though with when I used it, I didn't have the handle tightened all the way down to increase the blade gap. I'll shave it again tomorrow stock completely tightened down and see how it performs.

This is still my last and final unobtainable object. When I find this razor, the monobilt, I will have found my holy Grail.
Good news is, I get to live vicariously through yall!

Reshave with the Cooper and handle fully tightened down.

This razor is not the same shaver as the other style of Monobilt. It doesn't have the same blade feel for starters, the more ornate handle one has a lot more blade feel when fully tightened. It is also a milder shaver in stock mode than the ornate handle one, it is also much more efficient. End result an almost BBS shave and closer shave in this configuration than the more ornate handle version.

    Weds OCtober 23

I've wanted to use my Cooper Monobilt and today was the day. I think I need to repair the spring that holds the blade; it's putting a little too much tension on the blade and I think is slightly bending the blade when the cap is closed. I need to see if there is an easy way to fix this.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - MWF (it's Weds)
    Brush - ThatDarnRob
    Blade - Gillette Platinum (7)
    Razor - Cooper Monobilt
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Clubman Special Reserve

    Shave rating 5 of 5

I haven't had this Cooper very long, about 3 months and this is my first time using it. Concerned about the piece of spring steel that holds the blade in place that it was bent slightly out of place by a prior owner. I need to figure out a way to adjust this as the spring very slightly warps the blade when the cap is closed. I just shave carefully on the one end of the razor; it gave me a great shave. The first pass WTG was smooth with a little blade feel, and fairly efficient - DFS. The second pass, XTG and again was a very smooth pass with no blade feel and and finished BBS. As usual, the MWF generated a great lubricating lather. I got a 2 pass, nick and weeper free shave. The alum was a little vocal on my neck area. I finished off with the Clubman SR A/S.

Overall, a really good shave. Going with some US made OC razors this week.

Happy OCtober and great shaves everyone.

You can unscrew the head to remove the spring. Some Cooper's are easier to unscrew than others. Lefty loosey.

Edit: not sure why the spring would affect the blade. It's just there to pop the cap up.

Edit 2: blade distortion, usually a slight warp near the center of the blade, is caused by the post being slightly larger than the center of modern blades.

    Thank you.
Mine doesn’t unscrew, at least by hand.
My spring is unfortunately bent or warped down so that it does not contact the cap at all, even when the cap is closed. But it does contact the blade when one is installed. I could try putting the blade on top of the spring and then closing the cap.

Tried Kroil yet? WD40 might work too.

...you did open the top cap when you tried to unscrew it, right? If the cap is closed it won't unscrew.
