I too get the better shave with soaps-however I always like having a can around. The Barbasol is getting low, and I may give Noxema another go this winter. Or Gillette Foamy regular. Decisions, decisions. I believe Noxema would qualify for a "Throwback Thursday" although I don't right now have the facts on when it was introduced. I just remember the Joe Namath/Farrah Fawcett commercial.

Here the only cheaper choices are Gillette and Nivea (store brand stuff too of course).
Travel sized can of Bic foam is more expensive than either of those. And doesn't work as well i think. Still usable though

I recall hitting the jackpot once by getting a Nivea CREAM. Their gels far outnumber the creams, I'd say.

Best I've come up with is reading a story about the man who "invented Noxema"(but at that time it was mainly the skin cream.). It was in the "early 20th century". I figure the skin cream led to the development of the shave cream. Sounds vintage enough to me.
