I've found most of mine in the wild Joe. Dusty corners of thrift stores where they stack up Avon and other of the ilk. The alcohol content preserves the juice if the caps in sealed well.
I've got some 1/4" heat shrink tubing I might try Patrick. Hobby Lobby also carries the other options. But that's only getting the unit so I feel comfortable holding it. I'm still not ready to start a rock collection. About convinced myself to drop it back in The Box for someone who's ready to take it on right now.
It's only shaving, right Blair? I've only used the styptic half a dozen times since getting off carts. Majority of times because of an open blade. It's part of the learning process. If it hurts when I do that, I think I'll stop doing that.
Thanks Terry! Poke..."Ow", carry on. A great shave!
I appreciate your situation. Much the same here. I'm hoping the 4 year old grandson turns that corner where he doesn't look at me as an adversary. When I ask a question, I can see the hamster running in the wheel of his brain. He'll flat out lie and give what ever answer he thinks will get him out of his current tight spot. I'm really hoping he's not a life time sociopath, just a phase he's going through. Otherwise I'm enjoying the opportunity to provide him with a better example of what a father should be, and the kind of man he can become.
    Keep up the good fight!

Old school, kind of.... except for the modern Osiris razor. Saturday shave with some vintage Old Spice shaving soap in an Old Spice mug. This soap is a great performer but the scent is weak so I added a few drops of OS aftershave and I am good to go.

Yea that's a tough one sometimes, but those who think kids can't make things up at 3 or 4, never had the opportunity to rais a few. I found it's mostly what they can get away with, as they get older more so. Personality has some to do with it, but a bad environment can make it worse.

I got that stuff under control, for now anyways.
    Good luck!

You could have a Superspeed replated in 24k gold. Of course that would be pricey. Razor Emporium says they will replate parts. Perhaps you could send them a SS spider bar. Then you can transplant the endcaps.

Original Gillette gold plating has a varnish which probably won't do well under a torch.

Also, Razor Emporium offers endcap replacement. You could just email them asking what your options are.

Thank you, Clint. I haven’t added Glycerin or Menthol yet. I usually add both to SV splashes. The Cubebe is a fantastic scent.

    November 1

    Razor - Gillette Tech
    Blade - topaz-platinum.jpg
    Soap - Fine Italian Citrus
Brush - Stirling Two Band Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Well, I may be 19 pages behind at the moment but I did get my shave in to start the month. It's a no-repeat November for me with everything except brushes. Just don't have 30 yet so I'll go through them all then double up where needed. Everything else, though, is a one time thing this month.

I decided to grab a classic razor to start with. The Gillette Tech is a workhorse razor that stood the test of time and continues to do so. It's a mild razor so different than what I usually grab, but you can't argue with its performance once you get your technique down. For the blade I reached into my desk drawer where I have a bunch of loose ones and out came the Topaz Platinum. Featuring "Platinum Sputtered Edges" (the way they spray the platinum on) it comes from the mind of Malhotra in India. Now part of SuperMax Corporation, Malhotra was one of of two major Indian blade manufacturers. The Topaz blades aren't bad at all. Not the sharpest you'll find, nor necessarily the smoothest but they are far from horrible.

On to the soap du jour. I chose to open up the wooden bowl that was made by @jtspartan and that I won with a raffle. Why open that bowl? Well, it's super cool and awesome, so there's that. It also holds Fine Italian Citrus as well. Haven't used it much but it is a really nice soap with a rather subtle scent that is quite pleasant. It also features a slick and cushy lather. Very nice indeed.

Three passes with the Tech finally brought the baby home. Took a bit to get used to a mild razor again but once I had the angle down it was a very smooth, comfortable and effective shave. Alum was silent so all is well.

Nice way to start the month. I'll pick up all new stuff tomorrow. Have a great Saturday!!

Thanks for the tip, Rick! Unfortunately, there aren't many thrift shops on Long Island. Also, these shops really concentrate on selling pre-owned clothes. I probably would have to go to the Hamptons on the South Fork of Eastern Long Island or some towns on the Eastern North Shore. At least you gave me an avenue to research vintage shaving accessories, etc.
