Nutrition Counselor! You guys in Massachusetts are pretty fancy. I wonder if Elizabeth Warren has something to do with this. Ooops. Scratch that comment. I take it back.
Like you, we got a couple of new ideas from out dietician. Here are some of our notes in no particular order. Most of these things weren't new to us, but some were.
Turmeric and Ginger
Plant soy and soy milk (not processed soy)
Flax seed ground
Almond milk smoothies - add frozen bananas and Orgain organic nutrition drinks
Chia - good fiber source
Nuts
Avocados
Olive and canola oils
Fatty fish 1 to 2 nights a week: salmon, halibut, cod, shellfish. Wild fish, no farm raised
Hydration
1-2 cups coffee per day (this is hard unless the cups are very big!)
Limit sugar-free drinks. Opt for natural (Stevia) sweetener when possible
Plant foods
Collard green leaf wraps instead of bread
Whole grains
Avoid greasy fried food, spicy (basically anything that tastes good.

)
Natural sugars in fruits OK; avoid processed sugar (except ice cream, of course...that there is a genuine wristwatchb nutrition counseling)
Eat small meals / eat frequently
Trader Joe's Ginger Turmeric tea; carrot ginger & almond turmeric salad dressings
Ground turkey instead of beef
Limit cured meats like bacon
Natural peanut butter
Greek yogurt
Couscous with green lemon Dijon vinaigrette (good side dish) served with chicken, vegetables
Put some color on your plate. If a vegetable stains hands or clothing, it's likely a good phytochemical
