  3. I understand how you feel my friend!

This Paradise Frost soap I used today is lovely stuff but although it lists menthol as an ingredient, the cooling sensation is so subdued you can barely feel it.

A great shave from opposite ends of the spectrum. Great day and shaves to all...
  9. Saturday NOvember 2

First shave of the month. Doing a NO repeat NOvember for razors but not for brushes or software as I don't have enough. I can do about 20 no repeat days for brushes, and about 10 no repeat days for soap so I will do my best but will have to start repeating some.

First up is my favorite razor; an Iwasaki Tamahagane.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - Le Pere Lucien
    Brush - Paladin Vesuvius
    Blade - N/A
    Razor - Iwasaki Tamahagane
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Floid SE

I haven't shaved with a straight for a while, since spring, but shaving with a straight is like riding a bicycle, right?? The steel on this razor is just awesome and produces an extremely sharp and smooth edge. The razor is very unassuming looking but definitely not one to overlook. Did a 2 pass shave; first pass WTG was DFS+. Decided to do a 2nd pass XTG and but was very careful, especially around my mouth and my neck area which usually give me problems when I shave with straights. Finished 2nd pass DFS+ primarily because I didn't try to get closer on my neck area as I probably would have drawn blood. The Le Pere Lucien lather was top-notch as usual. While I love using my open comb razors, I'm glad to be able to use some of my other razors this month.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.

  12. First use of the RR Mamba .70 produced fairly close and very comfortable 2-pass-no-touch-up shave. The blade was also a first, a Gillette Nacet -- so far it's living up to it's reputation as very smooth feeling. The Tabac was lathered with an Omega 10077 boar. An all around nice shave....this razor definitely feels like it could be a decent daily driver for when I need to shave everyday for work.

  17. Tuesday NOvember 5

Today I shaved with a Barbasol Floating Head - at least I think it's a Floating Head. Razor is in excellent condition and it gave me a great shave so I'm happy.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
Soap - La Savonniere du Moulin
Brush - Simpson Chubby 3 Manchurian
    Blade - Gillette Platinum (1)
    Razor - Barbasol Floating Head
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, RR Blue

    Shave rating 5 of 5

My first shave with this razor and I was very pleased. Efficient and mildly aggressive with a little blade feel. I don't think the blade feel would have existed if I didn't have 3 days growth. Did a 2 pass shave; first pass WTG was DFS. Very easy to use and maneuver. Second pass XTG and the razor and blade worked well together - BBS after second pass. The La Savonniere du Moulin provided excellent lather.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.

  18. The FH has quite a bit of exposure, I think you'd have plenty of blade feel even with less to shave, mine certainly does.

    Rooney Super Badger Brush
    Schick Grip with a Proline-B
    Thayers Witch Hazel with Cucumber
    Palmer's Moisturiser
    Tabac EDC

I was a very early start today for a long shift and 17hrs on.....I am still very respectable. The Schick Grip is mild .....but very efficient.
3 passes for an excellent shave [IMG]
