Tuesday - Friday this week will JWest week for me. Kicking it off is a Suzuki Niles, just under 6/8 with a half hollow grind.
You’ve been using that wide Herder pretty often lately Chuck, you’ll be shopping for a Filly 14 before you know it! @Karl G made me want to get out my own swayback English, A Wostenholm with the original scales with a few bug bites as a bonus. A really smooth shaving mellow old Sheffield. Cream was the new AdP Colonia scented cream lathered with a Keyhole 4, and a splash of mild D. R. Harris Pink topped it off. A spritz of AdP Colonia made for a fine morning. I suppose that I’m going to have to get the Colonia AS balm now, but I wanted to try the new cream first.
M. Pajon, Paris A nice regrind that took what was probably a near wedge to maybe a 1/4 hollow. It is still silent, and a very sexy shape in my opinion. A nice enjoyable, unique shave. Enjoy your shave. Tom
4/8 J.A. Hellberg Had a fantastic shave with this Swedish razor.Removed whiskers with almost no effort.Great steel.
Best shave yet with this Henkotsu kamisori. It arrived from its former home with quite a rough edge. I have approached honing it with great trepidation, knowing little about kamis in general or about this one in particular. The (newly re-pasted) diamond balsa strops have finally gotten the edge to a polished state, and the shave to up to ‘fully acceptable’. I will stick with the strop progression for a bit and watch for further improvement.
Toyo Scheön Burg frameback, re-scaled by Stefan a few years back. I use it mostly as a travel razor, Japanese framebacks are relatively inexpensive and the steel is second to none. Cream was SMN, and a dab of SMN Tobacco Toscano body balm served as the AS balm, it’s a rather thin product for a body balm, and well suited as an AS product. I’ve always thought that the only difference between body balms, AS balms, and face creams are really the thickness, they all seem to be about the same product.
I own multiple John & Wm Ragg razors and they all excel. For the moment this is my favored among the bunch. Hot water preparation AOS Lavender PSO Barrister Reserve Lavender Shavemac 2-Band Silver Tip Badger John & Wm Ragg Napoleon 11/16 AOS Lavender After Shave Balm Happy shaving - Karl
I used my 5/8 Wostenholm Square Point. I will be using it for the next 26 shaves. I am part of the 30 DC on this forum. I am doing a 30 consecutive straight shave with the same razor and lineup.

I received a new shave soap as a gift. Therefore I decided on a nice straight razor shave tonight. It was very relaxing and I had an excellent shave. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I was eyeing this thing for ages and when I was ready to pull the trigger it was gone. lol Great looking razor. How does it hone and shave? Sam
It is a pleasure to shave with and maintain. The like the blade shape, it takes and holds a sharp edge. It was easy to hone, the blade is flat and the geometry is spot on.
