  2. Above the Tie Copper Windsor (4th shave) w/Polsilver - Stirling Orange Chill soap & American Blend. This beauty continues to impress and with this shave has replaced the Segal in my rotation and has moved to the #1 spot just above my NEW SC and Pre-war Tech (no easy feat). I've used Astra, Med Prep and Polisilver and all deliver a silky smooth 2 pass with very near BBS results. This razor really shines against-the-grain as it wipes out my trouble area's (neck, left cheek) with minimal effort. After the first shave I realized I was pressing to hard and now have adjusted and let the weight do the work. This is a very heavy shaver (129 grams) but surprisingly still nimble under the schnoz. Someday I will resume my normal 6 razor rotation but for now I'm really enjoying my new acquisition; plus it looks so good sitting on the counter (I'guess I'm a sucker for a shinny things).

  4. Today the weather was a gentleman: after the fog, it started to rain.
    Here, autumn, it is such!

And, the day required, a shave of yesteryear or, better, what I perceive as such.

The soap, in its old sturdy and pleasant-looking bowl, though too small in diameter to let a comfortable load, smelled of almond: I change tastes more often than a spinster in a men's strip-club!
The soap loads so quickly that the size of the mouth of the bowl is forgotten and it lathers immediately: tallow power!
And, assessing the performance of this in any other respect, I wonder if having neglected it for so long a time was not an injustice.

I like the old razor more and more, not only for its essential line, but also for its performance: it is supplanting the Maggard to have very smooth shavings.

The conclusion with a Mediterranean lavender water completed the liturgy.

In the end it's not like I was any handsomer.
Reasonably ... how could this be possible?

I got this razor from @Jrdelgado and noticed that the original blades and instruction sheet were still there. Also it was in excellent shape and guessing it was never used, at least until today. Two passes with minor touch up for a very smooth BBS shave.

    Blade: Rapira SS (#2)
    Brush: Vulfix #26
    Soap: Williams

I notice of late that some soaps like to rest on the brush a little before use and Williams is one such soap. Go in slow don't get it too wet and you will be in lather heaven.
The razor jumped out at me today for this shave. I often think what was the best razor Gillette made from a technical standpoint and it is hard to argue with the SS as candidate. issued at the very zenith of wet shaving and just before Gillette got giddy about cartridges, the SS is everything you could want in a razor. I love it.

    Shave on!

  15. Weds NOvember 6

No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. Up today is a L'Essor hoe/lather catcher with a CV Heljestrand wedge blade I honed myself. Looking forward to this shave.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - MWF
    Brush - Rubberset 400-3
Blade - CV Heljestrand wedge (2)
    Razor - L'Essor hoe/LC
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Clubman A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

Last time I shaved with this razor in OCtober, I used a GEM SE blade. Today I used one of the wedge blades I recently honed. The razor and blade provided a very nice, mild shave. I did two passes; first pass WTG was DFS. Second pass XTG and was BBS after second pass. The MWF provided excellent lather as usual. The alum was a little vocal on one side of my neck but that was it. Finished up with the Clubman A/S.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.
