This morning was my first ever use. Initial impressions are sharp and smooth. No tugging, just a nice shave.
Thursday NOvember 7 No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. Up today is a Gillette Fatboy Red Dot D1. Bowl/Scuttle - GP12 Soap - Stirling Executive Man Brush - Jayaruh 327 Blade - Gillette Platinum (2) Razor - Gillette Fatboy Red Dot D1 Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Stirling Executive Man A/S, EdT Shave rating 5 of 5 I did a two pass shave today, first pass on 9. I'm not used to using a Fatboy but I noticed audible feedback during the first pass - the razor/blade was singing to me. I don't remember this happening on my regular Fatboy. Anyway, the first pass, WTG, was excellent. I turned the dial down to 5 for the second pass, XTG, but this time no singing razor. The second pass was excellent as well, finishing BBS. The Executive Man soap provided very good lather though I had to watch how much water I added to prevent the lather from getting too watery. The alum was a little vocal again on one side of my neck but that was it. Finished up with the Executive Man A/S and then the EdT. Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone. - Ken
Hello, fellow wet shavers. One of my subscribers on my YouTuber channel asked if I could find some "old school razors" but I'm honestly not sure where to start. Of course eBay but, where else, what other kinds. Thanks, Erica
Etsy is also a good site for vintage razors. Between ebay and etsy you got most of the internet covered for US market vintage. If you want international stuff then try the ebay international sites like ebay.ca for Canada for example. If you are doing women's shaving I'd suggest starting with vintage women's razors first before moving onto men's style razors. One that is cheap and plentiful is the Gillette lady starburst. I'd also suggest trying the Schick Lady Eversharp razors if you want to try out single edge injector style razors. You'll find a lot of guys myself included use Lady Eversharps to shave their face and beards. Another one though they usually don't come cheap like those 2 is a Lady Pomco which is not only a ladies razor but also a slant razor. If you still want to go with men's style razors then I'd suggest a Schick Krona, Gillette 3pc tech, pre or post war or any of the Gillette Super Speed razors. These razors are still cheap and plentiful. Not only on ebay or etsy but they do show up quite a bit in the antique shops, flea markets and vendor malls. On the Gillette Super Speeds the ones called red tips are the most aggressive, the blue tips are least aggressive and all other types are somewhere inbetween. If you have to try a vintage adjustable the Gillette Slim adjustable would be my recommendation because they are still a dime a dozen and can be had on the cheap still in good condition.
