2019-11-11, Monday

I woke up one mornin', it was drizzlin' rain... freely adapted!
It is still drizzling now...
Perfect for the soap I love: it reminds me of foggy days, lit fireplaces and a cup of hot Lapsang.

The Rotbart is the Chuck Norris of my razors: with the right blade I can't even feel it and I get a perfect shave in a single pass. Just some touch in hard to reach places...

Today, in honor of Veterans Day, I am using my 1918 US Army OT head with a Maggard OT replica handle. The brush is my Vietnam ribbon brush. Happy Veterans Day to all the vets out there.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #313 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Gillette 1918 Army Old Type razor with a Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

La Toja Cream today. 10 seconds to load the oscar11/TGN High Mountain White brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Personna 74 Tungsten in the vintage Gillette Fat Boy. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Stirling Sandpiper aftershave.

Not as frigid a setup as I would normally select for a Menthol Monday shave but still pretty damned cold. The Yuka Lyptik soap has such great lather, the scent really pleases me - it’s definitely like those Halls eucalyptus lozenges, and the menthol sensation starts off slowly, but then it starts hitting you. The Prep and the Aqua Velva felt so soothing as well as chilly. Three passes resulted in a brilliant BBS shave which I enjoyed immensely!
