    Monday NOvember 11

No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. Up today is a Henckels Rapide with a GEM blade and a wedge adapter.

    Bowl/Scuttle - Simpsons mug
    Soap - Williams
    Brush - Rubberset 200-4
Blade - GEM SS SE (2) w/wedge adapter
    Razor - Henckels Rapide
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Furbo Blu A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

First time using this wedge adapter with a SE blade; seemed to work well. I did a two pass shave today, the first pass, WTG, was excellent. No irritation. The second pass, XTG, was excellent as well, finishing BBS. The Willliams shave soap did an ok job but I needed to re-apply it several times during my second pass as it was drying up on my face. The alum was a little vocal again on one side of my neck but that was it. Finished up with the Furbo Blu A/S.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.

    TUESDAY'S SHAVE

    Perfumed by:
    Olivier Creed
    [IMG]

Fragrance - Creed Royal Mayfair (bottle signed by Erwin Creed)
Aftershave - Catie's Bubbles "Royal Garden" Tonic
    Shave Soap - Proraso Green
    Deodorant - Punkee Herbals "Rose"
Preshave Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cube with Dock
Post-Shave Balm - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Mysterium Serum
Razor - Antique Gillette ABC "Empire" Razor circa 1908-1912 (fully restored/re-plated in rhodium by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - [IMG] *5th shave
Razor Stand - ThinkGeek Executive Knight Pen Holder
Brush - London Cutlers Modified/Restored Antique Silver Synthetic-Boar Shave Brush circa 1890
Brush Stand - Jac Zagoory's Butterfly Pen Stand
Soap Mug - Antique Northwood Dandelion Amethyst Carnival Glass Mug circa 1912

***EDIT - 2 pass + minor touch ups. I finally got a good, solid, irritation-free shave from this razor. The Spoilier blade needed to be on the 5th shave before it really hit the right sweet spot. Too sharp of a blade seems to wreak havoc with this razor. It's been the most finicky razor I have in my den. A very tough razor to shave with, but this time I nailed it.

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club Pain Stick
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Stirling Iced Coffee
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Welcome to winter! About an inch of snow down, lots of wrecks everywhere you look and the current temperature is 18 F. Not the low yet. Considering we were at 69 yesterday, not a bad drop, right? It's Menthol Monday so why not add some more icyness to the day, right?

After @Hembree did his best to bait me into buying a new pain stick earlier (he succeeded but I'm not admitting it yet) I decided it was time to pick up a pain stick for tonight's shave. I chose the Feather SS. Great quality, just has that little lip they put on to make it "safer". I chose the Feather Pro blade which is my usual choice for a painer. Menthol Monday demands menthol so let's use the Stirling Iced Coffee. Love, love love the scent and the lather is pure Stirling. Pair that with the JR54 and there's enough slick and thick lather to share with everyone.

Why I'm not bleeding right now I'm unsure of. Right side went well on the first pass. Left side started with the tip of the blade cutting the top of my ear right where it connects to my head. I felt it, cussed it, and just continued waiting for the blood flow. Nothing. I finished that pass and still had no blood. Checked on it and found a very small slice, but no blood. Either there are no capillaries there, or the pressure of the fold it's in sealed it, or I have lost blood supply to my head. Take your pick. Anyway, I went for the second pass and did some touch up and have a very fine DFS shave as a result. A bit of bite from the alum on my neck and definitely on the little cut when I put a little on there. The shave itself, though, was definitely top shelf.

Hope you are warm and dry where you are. Tuesday is up next and I think our high tomorrow is a warm and balmy 26 F or something like that. Mmmmm, mmmm, good.

    SOTD:
The last three shaves have been exactly the same setup, a now beautifully worn in Omega 49, paired with arko and a well used feather, and what a beautiful combination they make. I really think slickness plays a big role not only in minimising irritation, but in extending the blade lifespan too. My theory is because it reduces the friction, super slick soaps minimise blade wear.

The last 3 shaves were number 33, 34 and 35 on this blade, and its really weird because performance dropped off a lot last week and just when i was about to replace the blade, it got better, buttery smooth, im pretty sure ill be able to beat my 45 shave record with this blade, but ill have to see because the second it starts tugging im replacing it.

    Razor: Wilkinson sword tto
    Brush: omega 49
    Soap: arko shave stick
    Blade: feather hi-stainless (33,34,35)
