  2. AD85791B-377E-4EF8-9FA4-7C8BDB04891F.jpeg Smooth and comfortable DFS of face and dome. The open comb scalloped head easily mowed down two days’ whisker growth. The handle is much too long for my taste (4”), but the head is an effective design. I think my shave would have been closer with a shorter handle. So I switched to a RR Bulldog handle for tomorrow’s shave.

    SOTD 11/12/19

RAZOR: Yaqi Grace (scalloped head and open comb.
    BLADE: Voskhod
PRESHAVE: Cold water rinse followed by scrub w/ PAA’s Charcoal-Menthol Preshave Soap
    BRUSH: Omega Pro48 Boar
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash and rinse w/ MWF followed by RR 888 Eucalyptus and Tea Tree AS Tonic

  4. Thanks for the encouragement. A stronger brush may be all that is needed. I'll have that tomorrow.

That is a terrific shave, Jeff!

  6. Way behind, but I'll try to read through starting late last night/early this morning:
Awesome looking scales on that razor, Keith. Resembles some of the laminated recycled skateboard material that brushes are being made out of as well.
My razors just do not look like that, Jim, no matter how much Mother's polish I go through...love the Tobacco Bay as well.
The Astras are one of my 'bulk' blades as well, Terry. A good, solid Russian Gillette performer. There are a few more durable, imho.
Very nice shave, Perry. You and Keith have inspired me to grab the BoS for tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about Alice, Perry. You guys are in my thoughts today for sure.
A heavier Tech handle, with the same shape? That is a very good sounding thing, Gary. Nice blues in the pic as well!
Love that Dogwood brush, Jim. It definitely inspired some of my more recent resin/wood combos.
National Holiday here. Anything that tried to have 'Business as Usual' here on Nov 11th would not be treated very well. We have a town of 20,000 and 4,000 were at the ceremony yesterday, apparently.
I actually don't remember seeing that soap from you before, Clint. Either I have a really bad memory, or maybe it is new? Love the greenery, as always!
You are colder there than we are here. You may keep it, Joseph...
Well, the Clubman will certainly cover the other scent, that's for sure...
That razor! That pic! You'd think you were a pro or something...
Looks like it is time for a new splash, Tommy!
  7. 'Tis all naturally occurring, I am sure...:happy097:

  10. I have had the soap several months but have only used it like 5 or 6 times. We have a lot of evergreen plants around the house that can survive our milder winters.
  11. Yes Jason, a good blade, but there are better, imho.

No polishing on the Ranger Tech. It's been re-plated in rhodium.

  14. Nov 12th
    No Repeat

    Razor: Gillette Heritage
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plisoft Barber 24
Soap: Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber
    AS: Proraso Sandlewood

The Gillette Heritage is basically a modern DE89 or Mulhe and shaves pretty much just like them. On the mild to medium side. Much better results from the Wilkinson Sword this time. Pretty boring 3 pass shave with some cleanup. Not as close as I usually get with my more aggressive razors. Just short of BBS.

I did strip off the chrome so it looks more like a Gillette should. The handle is close but not an exact reproduction of the vintage Gillettes. I am happy with the purchase but this razor will end up near the bottom of my rotation. Perhaps I will use the case for traveling with my NEW LC.

Great shaves Matthew! I agree a slick lather can make all the difference!
Beautiful shave Jim! What are you doing with all these blades that only have one shave on them?
    Excellent shave Terry!
Fantastic shave Perry. I will be praying for Alice. Hopefully her infection starts to clear up soon.
    Awesome shave Gary!
    Nice photo, Jim!
Awesome shot Clint! I hope your back starts to feel better!
Fantastic shave Joseph! Sign me up for the support group, and stay warm!

    Thank you Gary.

    Thank you Terry.

I apologize for my low activity level over the past couple weeks. Life is getting in the way and so are past injuries resurrecting themselves and causing problems. Pain from 5 herniated disks in lower back flared up last week and hasn't subsided yet. May have to double up on my pain meds.
