    No worries, Danny. I've read up on the history of Gillette Adjustable DR razors. Toggles were an experiment, and they Beta Tested several versions on their customers. The best part of that design became #195's. If you see that guy & his bucket again, just keep walking. I was just going to give them away and the postage would have cost me a month's grocery money.
    I see nothing wrong asking specifics in an e-mail. Say you were sensitive to particular scents or essential oils? As a consumer & a potential customer they could take a few moments and use a couple key strokes to answer your question without giving away the recipe.
    About the time I discovered wet shaving. It was a touchy subject that no one wanted to discuss. So if you believe in yourself, you'll be a ...SUPERSTAR!! Doesn't mean everyone else will agree. It's a product line I haven't gotten into. Mostly because I found the website mechanics annoying.

    I am glad that your experiences with PAA have been good. Truly. I just can't get his history out of my mind and honestly, when my trust is breached...it will never be the same. That's how it is for me with Douglas Smythe. There are too many honest merchants out there. I don't need PAA.

    I certainly respect your opinion, Joseph. I guess that I just can't be that black and white with someone who has never done anything wrong to me or to anyone I know. Most of the people who have met him or dealt with him as of late, at least on this site (which is the only one I really use) have good things to say about him. I know I wouldn't want people I have never met or dealt with to make up their minds about me based on something I did in the past or stories people tell about me as I know that no one would ever want to deal with me. I do try to extend the same courtesy to others.

    A lot of excellent responses here already. My $0.01 thoughts.....

    It's extremely tough to communicate thoroughly and with intent/interpretation to customers via websites, email or text (or FB or any digital means). Add in fragrances, ingredients (which may be a trade secret), and/or skin product(s) descriptions...it's almost a certain calamity. Things are going to get misinterpreted. It takes work, patience and careful word choices, always and every single time. Doesn't sound like that happened. That's very unfortunate.

    Face to face, or person to person (phone/video) almost always happens better in customer relations. PAA has a phone number on their website. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Contact Page Maybe give them a call, explain you are a current customer, then ask your questions. Hopefully the conversation goes better.

    I bought into PAA from enabling on the 30DC. Never called, never emailed, just a first purchase of a fragrance I knew I'd like....threw in a bunch of samples to hit free shipping. Now, I'm a big fan....would put the CK6 shave soap and as/cologne performance and longevity up against any artisan soap I have, as well as big time long standing manufacturers. Stirling's SS and AS are a very close competitor, Stirling does beat PAA on price. I haven't experienced A&E, Grooming Dept, & many of the other artisans...so won't compare.

    I read/know you hate samples....but it does work. Every PAA order I get extra fragrance samples (from those 30DC enablers ongoing new images and/or descriptions). PAA samples are quite inexpensive. $1 for a days worth of AS, $2 for the ASB (Star Jelly, which lasts a week for me), ~$3.50-4.50 for several days of shave soap. It is obviously an enabling practice to get another website visit and/or purchase.

    One last note....for the record, every PAA product I use and talk about, I've purchased (too much!) as a happy customer.

    i will be honest Paul,90% of the scent descriptions painted a picture in my mind but didn't smell like i thought when i received them.barbershop scents are the worst.none of them smell like a barbershop.certain ingredients are listed but the blend levels are not, or how they react to each other..others can pick out certain ingredients while others can't.samples speak volumes..:)

    :signs011::signs011:

    Perfect example to me where samples work. 'Barbershop scents are the worst...'

    I've read that ToBS Sandalwood is a 'Barbershop' scent. Got it, like it. Noble Otter 'BarrBarr'. Got it (sample)...um, it's OK, not sure yet. Fine 'American Blend' (sample). Like it, haven't bought it. Central Texas' 'Grandpa's Barbershop'...Got it...not so much. Got the PAA sample 'CAD' or 'Club Guy'...not so much.

    Still searching....thinking Stirling may be next Barbershop sample. It's a very cool label!
