I absolutely have to take a course for Domestic Fireman!
The signs that distrust from throwing out cigarettes and matches that are not completely off make me laugh: do they have any idea how hard it is to light wood?
Luckily I didn't try to become a Municipal Arsonist: I would never have passed the exams!

But it's nice to hear the smell of the fireplace around the house (when I can light it ...)!

And talking smell, I have something to say about Wickham's Fern: I didn't like it at first. Now, instead, it satisfies me more.
Good, because the soap is great!
It is not the first time that my olfactory papillae send me messages completely different from the primitive ones.

It has little to do with Saponificio Varesino's Aromatic Fern and I can't say which is more realistic: I have never gone around smelling ferns!
And then, to give a considered judgment, I should have smelled the British one too ...
I wonder if there is a forum for Fern Sniffers...

Satisfying shaving, even if not memorable: the EJ does its job very well, especially combined with a sharp blade!

And here is a photo completely different from the usual, both for the panorama and composition: enjoy it!

SOTD 14 November 2019 (and Mail Call)

So I felt compelled to interrupt my tour through Stirling soap samples to take advantage of yesterday's mail call:

And therefore I did... and while I have every confidence a fifth consecutive new Stirling shave would have been excellent, I definitely enjoyed the pleasure of shaving with my new Murphy and McNeil acquisition!

Pre-shave: hot shower and hot towel
    Razor: Merkur 34C HD
    Blade: Parker Premium Platinum (#1)
    Brush: Omega Pro 49
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lather Bowl
Soap: Murphy and McNeil Bád Mór
Aftershave: Murphy and McNeil Bád Mór Splash (w/alcohol, no menthol)

The soap loaded very easily, as with other products of theirs - and a slick, protective lather was easily produced. The scent of both soap and aftershave is lovely. Lots of Allspice and clove up top, and it settles into a very nice, spicy and warm afterglow. I've just shaved an hour ago, so I can't comment on longevity, but it's a very nice scent that's definitely with me still. The post-shave face feel, too, is absolutely superb.

The only downside to this shave was the fact that for today I pulled a new Parker Premium Platinum out of a pack thrown in with a purchase a while ago... and I have to say that it might be the dullest blade I've ever shaved with. I did manage a fairly close shave, but with a lot of effort and one too many passes. I didn't suffer any nicks or cuts, but I honestly wonder with this blade if that's even within the realm of possibility. I may (repeat MAY) give the blade a second shot, but I doubt I'll be keeping these. It's really no wonder they run only about 30 cents a blade even in a 5-pack (and apparently a bundle of 100 will only set you back $10).

    Thursday NOvember 14

No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. No repeats so far except for scuttle, blades, and alum. Up today is one of my favorite razors, my Kirby Beard 1930.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
Soap - PAA Immortal Peach PK-6
    Brush - Alpha Outlaw Titanium
    Blade - Gillette Platinum (4)
    Razor - Kirby Beard 1930
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, PAA Immortal Peach A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

Excellent 2 pass shave today. This razor might give me the best first pass of any of the DE razors I own when I've got 3 days or less growth. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the A/S scent - should probably leave this as a spring/summer only A/S. The alum was slightly vocal again on my neck area.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.
