I have stopped. I'm still alive, barely. Actually had a restful night. Can't talk very well right now. Talking to people on my cell phone, they think they woke me up. No, I'm just sick.
Thursday I had to get a root canal done. 3 hours in the chair, $800+ bill, and I still might lose the tooth. Y'all say a prayer that everything will heal okay. I'm at work on a Sunday, playing catch-up because I had to miss Friday on account of taking new antibiotics. I haven't had a great track-record with new antibiotics. Fortunately, these seem to work for me! Yay! Now, if only somebody would explain to me why they have to make the prescription "Take one ever 6 hours." How difficult would it have been to make the time release work over an 8 hour period? No matter how you slice it, I have to go to bed late and get up early to take these pills. And on top of that, after taking them, you can't lie down for 30 minutes. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Ok, I'm done ranting now.
You people and your weather. Y'all need to come to cenla, or if you're brave, down to south LA, to see what hot and muggy weather's really about. I could get behind this campaign election platform: "elect me and I'll give a DE razor to every man, woman, and child, and keep them in the DE blade of their choice for as long as I remain in office." That would be a lot cheaper than any of our recent options...
been wondering where you've been, now I remember you mentioning that. Uggghh, root canal, that was no fun, although the actual procedure is far less painful than the bill.... for real 70's, man that's considered chilly 'round these parts this time of year!
Happy Sunday kiddies. It's a balmy 105 here today. Fried sidewalk eggs anyone? So Tracy, Jen and Calvin all on leaves of absence huh? Well sometimes life just happens that way. I haven't been around near as much lately compared to the past year either. Between the upcoming move and changes in my job duties I'm not afforded the online time I once was. This will prob. continue through the foreseeable future. Rest assured I will still be popping in a couple times daily to see what's up, but the marathon chat sessions prob. won't be possible. If you want to get me a message or just find out what's up the PM is prob. a better method. I just wanted to let you all know this so's you don't think ole Shep got sick of his TSD buddies. Not the case at all. Like I said, life just happens sometimes. On a more pleasant note since I'll soon be living near world class mountains, I've been doing a lot of day dreaming about skiing this winter. I can't wait for the snow to fly. You don't hear that too often do you?
I remember one time the news people went down to Gila Bend when it got to 120°+ and were actually able to do that....but it took a long time....I don't think it can happen under 120°.... The hottest it ever got in the Valley when I lived there was 123° .... man, the F-16 fuel tanks were popping relief valves left and right!
No humidity. Just freakin' hot. The most I think I've lived through here is 117 or 118 or something. Of course standing around on a sidewalk or tarmac just radiates that much more heat back on you so I'm sure I've experienced over 120 a time or two.
Not in a rush and it is just the principle of the whole thing. (I hate digital cameras and they hate me). Just killed another cell phone today. Used my wife's phone for a minute and now the screen doesn't work.... Coworkers and family just don't get it. They assume I am an alpha geek and keep bugging me with computer/tech issues. They don't realize that often enough the electronic device sorts itself out in order to protect itself from my influence..... Well it was a busy day! Wife and daughter were gone longer than anitcipated so not only did I take care of the rough loose strings in week 6, I cranked out week 8, 9, and 10 today. OK... so now I am going to start week 11 tomorrow. I am still behind due to the universe conspiring against me and the whole procrastination thing. But I feel much better now. I wonder what the wind is like, I think I want to go fly a kite.
I have a friend who can't wear digital watches, because his body always messes them up, it's the weirdest thing to watch a watch go from working perfectly in the morning to being completely screwed up at the end of the day.
I have a friend who is very much the same way. Cell phones die, computers take a crap, copy machines spew blank paper, etc. Isn't alot of fun for her. The other teachers won't let her use anything and we tend to do her copying so the machine will continue functioning long enough for us to finish ours. The tech gurus are constantly working on her computer.
My father is that way; he would go through watches like clockwork.. Cheap watches die fast with me, but I think that has more to do with them being cheap. Timex Ironman watches last on me until they physically start breaking (due to collisions with the wall, desk, etc...) over the years of abuse.
Yup... kind of similar here except for the fact that I have more technology in my classroom than any other teacher in the building and maybe the district. (there is a reason the co-workers think I am an alpha-geek).
Need some of that heat out this way. After a couple days near 80, the low for tonight is expected to be... 30.
Yep, me too - no news is good new, I say! Looks like everybody in their right mind is sawing logs about now. Did I miss anything this weekend? Think I'll actually be around tomorrow for a while, at least in the evening. Hope everyone's well!
