Thanks, Joe! I really like my R41, not my adjustables so much. If I didn’t have Parkinson’s, I’d be going the straight razor route. Jeff
Hi Jeff. May I respectfully make a suggestion? If you pick a setting (mid-aggressive or higher) and stick with it, it may help speed your progress. I've got a handful of Gillette adjustables, and I stick with one setting. It has allowed me to dial in the correct angle and get consistently great shaves. I recently completed a 30-day focus with a Fatboy and never moved the setting off 9.
Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion. I’ll set it on five and proceed from there. I just can’t imagine shaving with the same razor for more than 3 days in a row! Ironic for a guy who shaved with a Krona for 50 yrs. Jeff
Sounds like a plan! I bet you had that Krona dialed in after a a 50-year focus. I wore out a few Norelco electric razors in 30 years before I came to my senses and made the switch. I've been DE shaving for about 7 years. I enjoy using a small rotation of different razors too. I am really glad you're here with us on the 30 DC. I enjoy seeing your gear and reading your posts.
Nov 15th No Repeat Fatboy Friday Razor: Gillette 195 Adjustable (F4)(7) Blade: Voskhod (1) Brush: Omega S-Brush SS & AS: MLS Cape Verde This is my only Fatboy which I haven't replated. It's about 99% so I will keep it as is. MLS soaps lather really well with a heavy fragrance so I will smell like Lavender today. Another really good 3 pass shave this morning. BBS on my face but focusing on no irritation on my neck. Half my team is at a conference this weekend. Most of the team are working on stretch goals, or projects which are just beyond their ability. Means I spend a lot more time coaching or in active working sessions. With them out, today will either be really easy, not having to worry about my team, or really stressful, having to cover in case of an emergency. Friday can be crazy as other teams rush to close out work for the weekend and demand last minute support. Still, I love my job. If it wasn't stressful at times, I'd get board. Happy Friday everyone!
I really like the SM Titanium blades. Fantastic shave Terry! I would have never though that you would rank the Dorco so high. But she is a beauty, Dale! No one can fault you for wanting to take her for a spin! Awesome shave Perry! Have a great time at the performances! Awesome shot Jim! That superspeed sure is shiny! I remember when you werent all that interested in vintage razors... Awesomelicious, Danny! Fantastic shave Jeff! We all understand the need to diversify! Wonderful shave Jim! Awesome photo, Clint! Beautiful setup, Jason! Awesome shave Gary! Wonderful shave Evan. I'm hoping for an easy day for you!
Thanks, Charlie! The feeling’s mutual. I’m like a kid in a candy store! So many razors and not enough time. I just ordered the Oneblade Hybrid. It’ll probably be too mild for me, if so, I can return it for full purchase price less shipping. A friend who I eat breakfast with owns a Genesis, and swears by it. He recommended I try the Hybrid which is apparently closest to the Genesis. I offered a swap with my R41 for a week, but no go! So I bit the bullet. It’s slightly more than 1/4 the price with current holiday sales incentives. Enjoy your shaves, Jeff
Thanks, Andrew, but after 50 yrs with my Krona, I’m like a kid in a candy store. Before I joined this great community, I had no idea of the variety available. Enjoy your shaves, Jeff
Thank you, Andrew! Yup, I've been bitten by just about every aspect of wet shaving. I don't have a lot of vintage razors but I do enjoy the ones I have.
