  3. Evan, the more you use your straight the better shaver you become. I have 236 straight shaves (121 traditional straight and 115 shavette shaves) under my belt and I am still learning. Today, I got an excellent 2 pass shave instead of my normal 2.5 pass plus touchups because I did something different. I went ATG on my jawline from my neck over the curve of the jaw instead of going from my ear toward my nose. I also did more buffing than normal. The point that I am making is that once you are comfortable manipulating your straight and have many shaves completed, sometimes it is good to try a different technique even with previously successful shaves. You will get there as well, Evan.

Straight shave #1 with the Gold Dollar. I'm proud to say the only Blood on Steel was in the tub. 3 very gentle and careful passes as I was going for gradual reduction and feeling out this beast. A nice splash of Stetson for the finish. A big shout out to Bill @Edison Carter for sending me this razor.
  5. Very good advise Joe.

  6. Exactly Terry. I prefer heavy and balanced for my head . Less fumbling around for a comfortable grip and less chance of skinning the old scalp. Mines a real bleeder if i screw up.

  11. I agree, Patrick! My 6C and Model T do a great job. Of course, the T is better because I don't have to do a lot of touchups.
