  5. Nice shave, Evan! Derby creams are quite inexpensive but I found the one I tried, Derby Lemon, to be quite good.

    Palmolive Menthol SC
    Thayers
    Booster Polar Ice AS
IMG_3014.jpg Next up in the No Repeat focus is the Menthol Monday combo of this mentholated cream and the Booster splash. Cream is excellent, splash is ok. This brush is the last one in my rotation, I'll be starting back from the beginning (left to right on my shelf...) tomorrow. I made this handle a month or two ago. It started out life as a failed resin pour that I cut up and modified. It is two pieces, one mortised into the other, and I detailed it on the brushmaker's forum awhile ago. I got in an order from APShaveCo last week that included this knot, a badger/boar mix and a synthetic fan. What about one in and one out you ask? My own brushes are exempted from that rule...:). If I buy one (like a Rubberset 400...) then I'll get rid of one of mine.
A very nice 3 pass shave this morning. This is probably my most mentholated soap/cream and I was definitely awake afterwards. The humble Tech is a really good razor, that's probably why the design lasted for 40 years.
    Have a great day all!
  9. Beautiful, Mark!
Same here. I took all my pics yesterday. All indoors with my cardboard box and towel backdrop.

    :ashamed:
    Great shave, Paul!
    Nice, Jeff!
    Congrats on the new razor!
  10. That's a shame Paul. Good soap should never be thrown away. It could have lived on happily without the cap or easily been transferred to another container or mug.

Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - John Frum - PS/SS/ASB/AS
Heritage Collection - Klenzo - HMW 'Heritage Gel Tip'
Drew Dick 7/8 Damascus Steel - Green Kirinite

Up today is a new brush, the Heritage Collection Klenzo, with a 26mm SHD High Mountain White 'Heritage' gel tip fan option knot. Very nice brush...put it through a baby shampoo wash, followed by a couple shave soap/cream latherings to de-funk it a bit. The Klenzo handle is easy to hold, and made an awesome lather with the John Frum PAA CK-6 formulation. First 'gel tip' brush...very nice face feel, a bit of a lather hog, almost too smooth on the face. More to come as I break it in. The Drew Dick razor went through a round of linen & leather stropping, and was a joy to use, right up til the lower right neck and jawline (that was so irritated from yesterday). Very light passes over the neck area (feels like sunburn still). Overall 2.5 pass DFS- is probably the best description of this morning's result. Followed with PAA's Mysterium Serum, a great soothing unscented balm, and a light application of the John Frum AS.

Today's image done with an iPhone Xs Max, mostly ambient light, with a small flashlight fill to show the cutting edge...it's quite pronounced and mirror polished, a big contrast to the Damascus steel in it's natural ground state.

Hope everyone has a Magnificent Monday!
  17. Very nice, Blair! All the various Heritage Collection brushes I'm seeing are sure tempting.
