I consider the Ladas my least favourite and only truly 'substandard/don't even bother' Russian blade, Terry. Cannot get through a shave with one. Don't tell the blade Czar...

I'm a fan of Fine soaps as well, Danny, but haven't had the gumption to try the Snake Bite yet.

thank you ,i never feel like i get enough soap on the face when i use the palmolive stick..some in the bowl guarantees me a usable lather for 3 passes..

My Monday actually got better when I left home. Firstly, the top rack of the dishwasher broke. Then, early this morning was confronted by an angry male Mule Deer while walking my dogs. He followed us nearly to the bottom of the front steps and was posturing for sure. We have an urban deer problem in our town, but this morning took it to a whole 'nother level of ridiculousness.

Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
Eveready 1912
Gem SS PTFE (?)
WWB Green Pearl (26mm Maggard SHD fan, Frigate Class)
Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Soap and AS

I recently took possession of two 30mm Oumo SHD brushes so I will be doing a mini brush comparison this week and next. Setting the bar this morning was the Maggard SHD fan knot set in the WWB Green Pearl handle. This knot is the gold standard for me. Offering supreme value with it's gel tips and and good backbone. Face lathering with this brush is pure joy. 30 seconds loading from a new tub (still soft) of Stirling was a bit overkill. By the time I was done building my lather the brush was full and overflowing with slick, creamy, Stirling goodness. Loaded a previously used Gem SS PTFE blade into the Eveready 1912 and away we went. Smooth cutting action let me know that this blade still has plenty of life left in it. Three passes left me IBBS and I finished with a generous splash of the SDM AS, good stink!

View attachment 210529 First use of Speick shave stick. It's a weird peach color...and it doesn't smell like anything I can describe. Splashed water on my face and rubbed the stick around on my regular two days of growth. I couldn't see any soap for it's Caucasian skin tone color, but a damp brush started lathering it up real easy. Had too much soap as it turns out because it kept taking water. Scraped the excess into my bowl, and added more water to the brush to get the lather to my liking. I recall reading about the Speick plant extract in this soap. There's an herbal scent that's maybe a little bitter? It's not perfumey like flowers. Not unpleasant. Certainly slick, and easy to lather. The Cooper likes the glide. Three passes with no nicks and my face felt good. I splashed on some Cool Breeze AS, I think. It's fairly strong in menthol, has a minty citrus scent, and might have guavas in there somewhere. An early acquisition that's languished in the back of my cabinet. I figured with an odd scented soap might as well use a weird post shave product.

Yes, I’m a little behind. No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. No repeats so far except for scuttle, blades, and alum. Up today is one of my favorite razors, my Kirby Beard 1942.

Bowl/Scuttle - GP12

Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Lilac Vegetal

Another excellent 2 pass shave today. Might have been better than the shave yesterday with it's older sibling. And, this is still true: this razor might give me the best first pass of any of the DE razors I own when I've got 3 days or less growth. First time using the A/S - it smells ok, I'll have to ask my wife and kids what they think. The alum was slightly vocal again on my neck area.

I don't want to come off sounding like a smart-ass but wanted to share some more pics of my Kirby Beard razors with Joseph and Jason and anyone else if anyone is interested. Kirby Beard was once on my "White Whale" list and I was lucky enough to fine two in really good shape, one made in 1930, the other 1942. I can't say for certain, but Kirby Beard may have been the original scallop cap/bar razor. I'm certainly no expert but they are among my very favorite razors I own.

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is ready to attack the week. Yes, I did buy an inexpensive tube of menthol shaving cream so I could do no repeat menthol monday. Probably do it again next week.

The Feather HS goes well in a tech. Great 3 pass shave this morning. Decided before I started that I wouldn't do a cleanup pass. I did do a little extra on my jaw but that was it. The grain does crazy things there. No nics or irritation. Good menthol cool.

View attachment 210556 Next up in the No Repeat focus is the Menthol Monday combo of this mentholated cream and the Booster splash. Cream is excellent, splash is ok. This brush is the last one in my rotation, I'll be starting back from the beginning (left to right on my shelf...) tomorrow. I made this handle a month or two ago. It started out life as a failed resin pour that I cut up and modified. It is two pieces, one mortised into the other, and I detailed it on the brushmaker's forum awhile ago. I got in an order from APShaveCo last week that included this knot, a badger/boar mix and a synthetic fan. What about one in and one out you ask? My own brushes are exempted from that rule.... If I buy one (like a Rubberset 400...) then I'll get rid of one of mine.
A very nice 3 pass shave this morning. This is probably my most mentholated soap/cream and I was definitely awake afterwards. The humble Tech is a really good razor, that's probably why the design lasted for 40 years.
