@Linuxguile mentioned a comparison between the aluminum and stainless steel Above the Tie razors so I though I would give it a go this morning.
The Fat was just good stuff this morning and one cannot complain about.
So how do the razors compare? The handle lengths and diameters are close and the both razors were running the R1 plate in their respected metals.
The Calypso weighs 40 grams which is 1.41 ounces.
The Kronos weighs in at 109 grams which is 3.84 ounces.
You can see that there is a considerable weight difference between the two razors and one would think that that would give the heavier razor the edge but I did not find that to be the case. In all honesty I could not tell a difference between the two razors on shave quality. The weight was the only difference and both shaved great. I shaved one side of my face with one razor and the other side with the other razor. Weight of the razors was the only difference and during the shave I just let the weight of both razors do the work.
I know a lot of people prefer stainless steel razors and I understand why but aluminum razors will hang right in there with them, especially the 7075 aircraft grade aluminum razors.
I hope this little review answers a few questions that you may have and don’t be scared to add an aluminum razor to the den. They will surprise you!
I hope everyone has a great day! Take care.
