    Gillette Slim Adjustable razor
    Dollar General blade
    Plisson/L'Occitane brush
    Taconic Eucalyptus Mint SC
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Taconic Eucalyputus Mint A/S

Thought I would try a Dollar General blade and was pleasantly surprised. Tugged a bit on the first couple of strokes but then smooth out nicely and a fine shave was had. My face is happy. Now go enjoy your day folks.

This morning I was struck by the desire for almond: almondicted?
The Acca Kappa is a fantastic cream: a pity it is, obviously, out of production!

The other interpreters chosen for the cast acted with the usual professionality.

At first I did not like the way Lady Day was singing 'I get a kick out of you': a little too 'bright' for this day, but my laziness of going to change the record was rewarded; I listened to the recording of the rehearsal and her splendid performance, accompanied by a piano only.

SOTD and Review, 21 November 2019

Today, after 8 days of Stirling Soap shaves (punctuated by an outstanding Murphy and McNeil shave) I trotted out a new acquisition, Razorock's Gold soap and aftershave.

I've had a couple Razorock soaps in my collection previously, so this is my third - and after having had 9 days of tallow-based formulations I'm reminded of the reasons I like those, and why (for other reasons) I also like Razorock's non-tallow soaps.
Being a softer soap, loading time on the Razorock with a damp boar brush is really brief - probably closer to 10-12 seconds rather than the 20 or so that I spend loading something like Stirling (or 30 for a triple milled soap like DR Harris or Fine - of which soaps I'm receiving first today). The lather built very quickly, and produced a reasonably dense, creamy texture - all good.

Performance-wise on the shave, though, I do have to say I would put Stirling quite a bit higher. This isn't to say that the Razorock performance isn't good - it is - but Stirling is noticeably slicker and more protective. Postshave feel is quite nice, but I would also give the edge in that category to Stirling.

I do quite like the aftershaves of Razorock that I've tried (Gold, now, plus Tuscan Oud and Nomad) - a good kick of alcohol and pleasant drydown. Gold's scent is kind of hard for me to place - I get a spicy, warm sense - some amber and perhaps a touch of leather that their website discusses, but it's definitely not prominent. Definitely a pleasant sent that's unlike other things I've got in my den.

Overall, then - good performance, not quite up to par with tallow-based soaps I've got, but nevertheless a worthy addition.
    Pre-shave: hot shower and towel

    Razor: Merkur 34C HD
    Blade: Voskhod (#3)
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lather Bowl
    Soap: Razorock Gold
    Aftershave: Razorock Gold splash
