    I believe they were originally nickel plated.
    When I was on the hunt to add a Red Tip to my collection this was the nicest example I came across.

    Thought it was chromed...
    I like to stick to the original finish, but this is looking great!
    The... nicest?

    Thank you. I make my own handles. This one is a walnut handle with a brass ferrule over top of the wood.
